K-Festival 2024 Has Begun, Special Events for Hallyu Fans!

 

Explore all aspects of South Korean culture by joining K-Festival 2024! The event officially started today, September 23, and will run until November 24. What exciting activities are in store?

K-Festival 2024 is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Indonesia, along with public institutions and Korean companies. Participants include the Korean Cultural Center Indonesia (KCCI), Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), KOREA 360, and Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) Jakarta, with support from Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, CGV Indonesia, and CJ Foodville (Tous Les Jours).

Each entity has its own events as part of this largest Hallyu festival in Indonesia. Events will not only be held in Jakarta but also in Bandung, Palembang, Medan, and Balikpapan.

“We want to bring Korean culture to cities in Indonesia where access to Korean culture is limited. With various public institutions and Korean companies part of Team Korea, we aim to promote Hallyu content,” said Charge d’Affaires Park Soo Deok from the Korean Embassy in Indonesia at a press conference held on Monday (September 23, 2024) at KOREA 360, Lotte Mall, South Jakarta.

K-Festival is a gathering place for Hallyu enthusiasts. Whether you’re a fan of K-Entertainment, traditional music, planning a trip to Korea, or interested in art, comics, performances, and food, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Here’s the complete list of events for K-Festival 2024:

  1. K-Comics World Tour in Indonesia
    September 5 – October 4 at the Korean Cultural Center Indonesia
    In collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea and KOCCA, KCCI presents an exhibition of K-Comics World in Indonesia featuring the webtoon All of Us Are Dead. Experience scenes from this drama live!
  2. Korean Traditional Genre Paintings Exhibition
    September 21 – October 9 at KOREA 360, Lotte Mall, South Jakarta
    Curious about daily life in Korea during the Joseon Dynasty? Discover it through 30 works by famous painters in the main hall of Lotte Mall, including pieces by Kim Hong Do, Jeong Seon, Seonghyeop, and Kim Jung Geun.
  3. Asian-African Literacy Festival 2024
    September 27-29 at the Asia-Afrika Museum, Bandung
    This event, a collaboration between the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and K-Festival, aims to introduce literature and Hangeul. It includes online events and cultural promotion booths.
  4. Korea-ASEAN Digital Heritage Exhibition
    October-November 2024 in Medan & Balikpapan
    Experience UNESCO world heritage sites in Korea and ASEAN countries digitally, and immerse yourself in Korean culture.
  5. K-book, Exploring Metaverse
    October 11-13 at KOREA 360, Lotte Mall, South Jakarta
    KCCI, in collaboration with KPIPA (Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea), holds a book exhibition in celebration of Hangeul Day. There will be an award ceremony for essay contest winners and a talk show with author Sohn Won Pyung.
  6. K-Seafood Fiesta 2024
    September-November at KOREA 360, Lotte Mall, South Jakarta
    Organized by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) Jakarta, this event offers a chance to taste halal Korean seafood, along with K-Pop shows and cooking classes (registration required).
  7. Franchise & License Expo Indonesia
    October 25-27 at the Jakarta Convention Center
    The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) Jakarta will introduce Korean franchises looking to enter the Indonesian culinary market.
  8. SIAL Interfood Jakarta 2024
    November 13-16 at the Jakarta Convention Center
    The largest food exhibition in Indonesia will feature 24 companies presenting various food products, including kimchi, sauces, tea, seafood, and more.
  9. Korea Indonesia Film Festival (KIFF)
    October 31 – November 3 at CGV cinemas in Jakarta, Bandung, Palembang
    This annual event for K-Movie lovers will showcase the best Korean films, including Exhuma! The opening ceremony will be held in Jakarta on October 31, with screenings from November 1-3 in three cities.
  10. Lucid Fall’s Music Story
    October 18 at Soehanna Hall, Energy Building
    KCCI presents South Korean singer-songwriter Lucid Fall in a concert featuring his 13 most popular songs, along with a lyric reading session in Korean and Indonesian.
  11. ROK Navy Classical Orchestra
    November 22 at Ciputra Artpreneur
    Enjoy performances not only from the Korean Navy Orchestra but also traditional shows.
  12. 2024 Visit Korea Promotion
    September 23-29 at KOREA 360

  13. Korea Health & Wellness Festival in Indonesia
    October 31 – November 3 at Central Park Mall, West Jakarta

  14. Will You Sing With Pagaehun?
    October 18-20 in Jakarta and Bandung
    KOCCA will hold a K-Busking event featuring viral TikTok singer Pagaehun, performing tracks including Play With Me.
  15. K-Living & Lifestyle Sale
    November 5-24 at Lotte Mall
    Grab special offers on various South Korean products, including household items, K-Pop merchandise, and snacks.
  16. The 2nd Anniversary of KOREA 360
    December 6-7 at KOREA 360
    Although not part of K-Festival (as it’s in December), this event is a must-attend featuring three K-Pop artists!

In addition to these events, there will also be Korean language debate and speech competitions for high school students in Yogyakarta and Central Java as part of K-Festival 2024.
