The original movie SECRET directed by Jay Chou, which was both critically and commercially acknowledged when it was first released in 2007 and became a representative film among romance fantasy films has been reborn in Korean language and it will open this January, bringing the excitement of first love. SECRET : UNTOLD MELODY is a fantasy romance that contains a miraculous magical moment that begins when Yu-jun and Jung-a accidentally meet in a campus practice room where the secret of time is hidden.

As the original movie that was greatly received by the public, SECRET : UNTOLD MELODY, which received much attention from the production stage, will maintain the original’s plot while changing the detailed settings such as the characters and background, and the overall atmosphere, and will warm the hearts of the audience with storytelling that matches the sensibilities of 2025. First, unlike the original work that was set in a high school, SECRET : UNTOLD MELODY depicts the story of music and college students on a university campus, adding a wide range of emotions and the reality of the present time. Regarding the characters that will unfold a different story, Director Seo You-min added, “I wanted to portray the characters actively seeking for love rather than passively waiting,” and “I focused more on the characters so that they feel a lot of romantic emotions, and I put a lot of effort into many parts such as romantic music, exciting performances, and a tense development as it approaches the climax,” raising expectations for the movie that is full of various entertaining elements.

SECRET : UNTOLD MELODY also offers a lot of joy to our ears. Along with the representative OST ‘Secret’ that was greatly loved in Jay Chou’s original film, the diverse and new scores that will increase the audience’s immersion are unmissable points of anticipation for the movie. Do Kyung-soo, who plays Yu-jun, mentioned, “When I first read the script, what I liked the most was that it was a fantasy romance. And the music added to the heartbreaking melodrama excelled immersion even greater,” expressing his satisfaction with the attractive script and high-quality music. Won Jin-a, who plays Jung-a, said, “The script gave off a pure and pretty feeling, so I was excited the whole time I was watching it. I expect to be able to empathize with the audience through the music.” Shin Ye-eun, who plays In-hee, also explained, “It is a warm movie where music, love, and fantasy naturally blend well,” explaining that SECRET : UNTOLD MELODY will convey rich emotions through the harmony of genre colors and music.

DOH Kyung-soo (as Yu-jun)

A promising pianist who had gone to Germany to major in piano after winning numerous competitions since childhood and being recognized for his talent. However, due to an arm pain with no known medical cause, he falls into a slump and returns home as an exchange student at the college where his father teaches. Then one day, he meets Jung-a in an old practice room on campus and rediscovers the joy of music and heart-fluttering excitement he had been missing.

Jung-a is a music student with good grades and talent. She is popular with friends thanks to her bright and cheerful personality. One day, while playing piano in a practice room on campus, she discovers an old music score and meets Yu- jun through it. As she spends more time with Yu-jun, Jung-a falls for him more and more, but she is torn by the secret she carries.

SEO You-min had started her career as scriptwriter of APRIL SNOW In 2005. Her works include HAPPINESS (2007), YOU CALL IT PASSION (2015) and she also adapted Korean commercial films such as A DRAMATIC NIGHT (2015) and THE LAST PRINCESS (2016). RECALLED (2021), a mysterious thriller starring SEO Yea-ji, is her feature debut winning audience award at the 19th Florence Korea Film Festival.
