Coming Soon to Indonesian Cinemas: Synopsis of the Korean Comedy Film Forbidden Fairytale Starring Choi Siwon

 

The South Korean comedy film Forbidden Fairytale, directed by Lee Jong Seok and starring Park Ji Hyun, Choi Siwon, and Sung Dong Il, is set to premiere in South Korean cinemas on January 8, 2025.
According to Screen Daily, the film was introduced to buyers at the Hong Kong Filmart in March 2024, expanding its reach to global markets. This film is one of the major projects of Barunson E&A, a company known for its international projects, including the Korean animated film Yumi’s Cells: The Movie and the Indonesian horror film Respati.

Forbidden Fairytale follows the life of Danbi (Park Ji Hyun), a young employee in the teenage protection team who spends her days monitoring illegal adult content. However, at night, Danbi pursues her dream of becoming a children’s book author by entering various competitions. Her life takes a drastic turn after she accidentally damages the vintage car of the CEO of an adult novel publishing company. As compensation, she is forced to work as an adult fiction writer for the company.

Initially reluctant, Danbi’s unique writing style turns her into a phenomenon in the adult literature world. Her stories ignite the imaginations of three friends and even lead to significant changes in the life of her colleague, Jeong Seok (Choi Siwon), who has suffered from sexual dysfunction for many years.

    The CEO of the adult novel publishing company who hires Danbi after the car accident incident.

Production
Filming for the movie began on May 20, 2023, and entered the post-production phase in March 2024. Forbidden Fairytale is produced by Soojak Film, known for previous works like The Great Battle and Missing You. Director Lee Jong Seok, who previously found success with the thriller The Negotiation (2018), showcases his expertise in exploring complex narratives.
