“Ranah Pusaka” Adapted to the Screen, Airing Today Exclusively on VIU App

Drama lovers, get ready! Grab and Viu are bringing Ranah Pusaka, the latest series adapted from the best-selling novel by Nellaneva. Starring Vonny Felicia and Fahad Haydra, this drama is set to air today, March 11, 2025, and will take viewers into a tale full of mystery and self-discovery.

The Adventure of Searching for the Heirloom in an Old Boarding House

Set in an old boarding house, Ranah Pusaka tells the story of three young people—Kali (Vonny Felicia), Badran (Alif Rivelino), and Ilyas (Ryuken Lie)—who long for freedom from their life problems. However, their lives change when Arka (Fahad Haydra), the mysterious owner of the boarding house, makes an unexpected offer.

“There’s something I’m looking for. A relic. A valuable object that is very important, but I haven’t found it,” says Arka.

In exchange for free rent, they agree to help Arka search for the hidden heirloom. But the deeper they go in the search, the more secrets are revealed—not only about the boarding house but also about themselves.

The Cast and Acting Challenges

For Vonny Felicia, playing Kali was a new and challenging experience. “I had to portray a character who is sharp and closed off, very different from my cheerful personality. Kali chooses to live in the boarding house because of problems with her ex and best friend, but she struggles to talk to others,” she said during an interview on set in Jakarta (4/2/2025).

Meanwhile, Fahad Haydra plays Arka, an orphaned young man who is serious and solitary. “My character is the child of an archaeologist and quieter than the other residents of the boarding house,” he said.

On the other hand, Alif Rivelino plays Badran, a rebellious young man with a dark past, while Ryuken Lie portrays Ilyas, a dreamer caught in a life dilemma.

The chemistry between the cast has been strong. “We feel comfortable and can bring our characters to life,” said Fahad.

A Mystery and Drama Like No Other

With a plot full of puzzles, deep acting, and stunning visuals, Ranah Pusaka promises to be a drama that not only entertains but also leaves a lasting impression. “In Ranah Pusaka, we had to convince the audience about something we’re searching for, without relying on horror tricks like jump scares or eerie sound effects,” added Fahad.

Author Proud of ‘Ranah Pusaka’ Being Adapted to the Screen

Nellaneva, the author of the Ranah Pusaka novel, expressed her pride when the story was adapted into a series on VIU. The drama has received support from Grab and VIU and stars renowned actors.

Nellaneva shared her joy during the drama’s launch event. “Happy and moved doesn’t even begin to express how I feel right now,” said Nellaneva at the press conference for the Gala Premiere of Ranah Pusaka in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday (10/3/2025).

She thanked Alif, Vonny, Fahad, and Ryuken for their dedication. According to her, the actors have deeply understood their roles. Nellaneva also praised the hard work of the entire crew involved in the production of the drama. She thanked Elex Media, the publisher, for helping spread her work.

She explained that Ranah Pusaka was inspired by her experiences during university. “I wanted to raise topics that relate to students, like theses, family, and quarter-life crises,” she said.

As the writer, Nellaneva is satisfied with the results of the Ranah Pusaka adaptation. She feels that the outcome matches her imagination, even though everyone has their own interpretation of it.
