After SUGA, J-Hope’s Solo Concert “HOPE ON THE STAGE” in Jakarta Heals ARMY’s Longing for BTS

For over two electrifying hours, Jung Hoseok—better known as J-Hope—thrilled tens of thousands of fans at his solo concert “HOPE ON THE STAGE” held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta. Performing 27 songs, including three encore tracks, the BTS rapper and performer delivered a stunning display of stage presence, musicality, and charisma.

The stage design was creative and impressive, featuring moving hydraulic box structures inspired by his studio album Jack in The Box. Combined with his fluid, high-energy dance moves and precise execution, J-Hope’s solo concert was an unforgettable experience.

This concert also served as a heartfelt reunion for Indonesian ARMYs—BTS’s global fanbase—who have long awaited a live performance from one of their beloved members. “It’s been a while. The last time I came to Jakarta was with the group back in 2017,” J-Hope shared with the crowd.

The Jakarta concert spans two days, May 3 and 4, 2025, and is part of a larger solo tour that has included stops in the U.S., Europe, and Japan.

Apa kabar, Jakarta?” J-Hope greeted, showcasing his Bahasa Indonesia skills to roaring cheers. Fans waved their signature light sticks, ARMY BOMBs, lighting up the arena. “Lantai bawah… Lantai Satu… Lantai Dua, mana suaranya?” he shouted, bringing even more energy to the already electric atmosphere.

“Indonesia is something else. So full of passion,” he continued. “According to BTS fan data by country, Indonesia ranks at the top. Amazing!”

Known for his bold and unique fashion, J-Hope changed costumes four times during the show. His looks included a variety of accessories—necklaces, belts, rings, bracelets—and even diamond-studded grills, all of which sparkled under the stage lights.

The concert opened with the song “What If…”, followed by the explosive “Pandora’s Box”. Red lighting and intense choreography lit up the stage for “Arson”, while a more emotional tone took over during the solo version of “On The Street”, highlighting J-Hope’s artistry and street dance roots.

He also performed six BTS songs, beginning with “Trivia: Just Dance”. Introducing his solo track “Monalisa”, he said, “I wrote this song to express my love for ARMY.”

The BTS hit “Airplane pt.2” was played after “Airplane”, followed by “Mic Drop”, “Silver Spoon (Bapsae)”, and “Dis-ease”—fan-favorite songs that turned the concert into a full-blown karaoke session, with everyone singing along as if in a noraebang.

His viral solo hit “Chicken Noodle Soup” brought high energy and featured his signature dance moves. “Hope World” rounded out the main set.

Just when fans thought the concert had ended, J-Hope returned with a cheeky smile. “Surprise!” he said, launching into a three-song encore.

The concert was filled with creative visual segments reminiscent of BTS’s signature storytelling style. Dancers, including a breakdance crew, joined him on stage for several songs. During “Daydream,” he appeared sitting on an actual bed on stage, adding a whimsical touch.

In an especially intimate moment, J-Hope stepped down from the stage to interact closely with fans during “1 Verse” and again during the encore. He encouraged the audience to stand up and clap along to “Outro: Ego,” his BTS solo track.

Promoter iMe Indonesia ensured smooth event logistics, contributing to a comfortable and enjoyable experience for fans. “It’s been so long since I was last here, I really wanted to give my best—to show my best side,” J-Hope said. He also expressed his delight in trying Indonesian cuisine. “Sate… Mantap!” exclaimed the 31-year-old performer, who recently completed his mandatory military service.

As the concert drew to a close, he introduced the live band and ten backup dancers who accompanied him throughout the night. “Thank you!” he said, raising his arms above his head to form a heart. “Saranghaeyo!
