A Rock Legend from Japan’s Biggest Bands
As the frontman of L’Arc-en-Ciel, HYDE has helped shape the very fabric of Japanese rock. L’Arc-
en-Ciel’s achievements include twenty performances at Tokyo Dome (seating approximately
50,000 each) and making history as the first Japanese band to headline Madison Square Garden.
Since their debut, L’Arc-en-Ciel has released twelve studio albums and forty-four singles, selling
over 40 million records worldwide. In January 2025, the group celebrated HYDE’s birthday with
“L’Arc-en-Ciel LIVE 2025 hyde BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION” at Tokyo Dome, drawing some 100,000
fans over two nights.
In 2008, HYDE co-founded VAMPS alongside guitarist K.A.Z (OBLIVION DUST). VAMPS quickly
garnered international acclaim, selling out arena shows across Asia and South America. Their
relentless touring and hard-hitting sound solidified HYDE’s reputation as a versatile and boundary-
pushing artist.
Most recently, in 2022, HYDE formed THE LAST ROCKSTARS (TLRS) with legendary peers YOSHIKI
(X JAPAN), SUGIZO (LUNA SEA, X JAPAN), and MIYAVI. During their debut tour in early 2023, TLRS
sold out every show in Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles—proof of their global influence and
HYDE’s enduring appeal.
Solo Career & Recent Highlights
HYDE’s solo work transcends borders. In September 2024, he released “HYDE [INSIDE]”, his first
original studio album in nearly five years. Produced by internationally acclaimed collaborators,
the album offers listeners an intimate journey into HYDE’s creative psyche. The 2024 “HYDE
[INSIDE]” tour attracted 65,600 attendees across seventeen shows in Japan and 14,800 fans
across nine international dates (seven in Asia and two in the United States). Additionally, HYDE’s
2024 itinerary included performances at sixteen Japanese festivals and two prestigious Asian
festivals. Looking ahead to 2025, HYDE plans to expand his global footprint with upcoming shows
in South America and Europe as part of a full-scale world tour.
HYDE’s music has also garnered mainstream exposure through anime and video games. His
collaborations include “Mugen” (opening theme) and “Tokoshie” (ending theme) with MY FIRST
STORY for the globally popular anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc.

Beyond music, HYDE serves as Austrian Tourism Ambassador (January 1, 2024 – December 31,
2025), marking the first time the Austrian National Tourist Office has appointed an ambassador
across all international branches. During his ambassadorial visit, HYDE was honored by Austria’s
President and received custom Swarovski hats, highlighting his cultural influence.
HYDE has toured the United States as a special guest for acclaimed acts like IN THIS MOMENT, I
PREVAIL, SIXX:A.M., STARSET, and APOCALYPTICA. He has also invited international artists—such
as STARSET, BUCKCHERRY, HIM, and GERARD WAY of MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE—to join him on
tour in Japan. On the festival circuit, HYDE has performed at renowned events including VANS
Warped Tour, Rock on the Range, Welcome to Rockville, Epicenter, Blackest of the Black, Ozzfest
