Jakarta, September 29, 2025 – After its successful world premiere and warm reception at the 2025 Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, the film Rangga & Cinta is ready to meet Indonesian audiences in theaters nationwide starting October 2, 2025. This film by Miles Films is directed by Riri Riza and produced by Mira Lesmana, Nicholas Saputra, and Toto Prasetyanto.
Rangga & Cinta is a reimagining of the iconic early-2000s teen film “Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?”, with a fresh screenplay written by Mira Lesmana and Titien Wattimena. The film stars Leya Princy as Cinta, El Putra Sarira as Rangga, Jasmine Nadya as Alya, Kyandra Sembel as Maura, Katyana Mawira as Milly, Daniella Tumiwa as Karmen, Rafly Altama as Mamet, and Rafi Sudirman as Borne.
Set in Jakarta in the year 2001, the story follows Cinta (Leya Princy)—a popular high school student living a seemingly perfect teenage life—until a mysterious boy named Rangga (El Putra Sarira) arrives and turns her world upside down. What starts as annoyance quickly turns into curiosity, leading Cinta to question her colorful world of friendship as new feelings for Rangga begin to bloom. When a dramatic event impacts one of her closest friends, Cinta must make a difficult choice between the friendships that have always supported her and the pull of her first love.
Bringing back the authentic early-2000s atmosphere, from music to youth culture, Rangga & Cinta promises a heartfelt cinematic experience that resonates across generations.“For me, Rangga & Cinta is more than just a teenage love story. It’s a space to celebrate love in all its forms—between lovers, families, friends, and even self-love. I wanted each audience member to feel the emotional depth of the characters, and hopefully find reflections of their own stories within the film,” said director Riri Riza.
As the film heads to cinemas, producer Mira Lesmana shared her appreciation for the passionate teamwork behind the production:“The journey of creating Rangga & Cinta was both long and emotional. Hundreds of crew members and cast gave their heart and soul to bring this film to life. Every detail—from story to visuals to music—was born from a strong spirit of collaboration. We hope the audience can feel that energy and sincerity on the big screen,” she said.
Nicholas Saputra also expressed his excitement:“We’re incredibly grateful to finally share Rangga & Cinta with Indonesian audiences. From the beginning, we made this film to be felt by every generation. We hope it rekindles youthful energy and finds a special place in people’s hearts.”
Leya Princy, who plays Cinta, shared her joy at the upcoming release:“I’m so excited that our film is finally coming to theaters this week! I hope it brings joy and entertainment to everyone.”
El Putra Sarira, who plays Rangga, added:“We hope our work can be enjoyed and help audiences relive the sweet memories of their high school days.”
Rangga & Cinta is proudly supported by Compass, Indofood, Skintific, and Amar Bank. Indofood, through its iconic brands Indomie, Pop Mie, and Chiki, is proud to support the film’s mission of engaging with Generation Z.
