HYDE Sets Jakarta Ablaze: A Night of L’Arc~en~Ciel Nostalgia, VAMPS Energy, and Linkin Park Fire

Japanese rock legend HYDE made a triumphant return to Indonesia on Saturday night, November 1, 2025, with his explosive HYDE [INSIDE] LIVE 2025 World Tour concert at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta.

Marking his third performance in the city, the show felt like a homecoming. HYDE last rocked Jakarta with his legendary visual kei band L’Arc~en~Ciel in 2012, and later returned in 2013 with his industrial rock project VAMPS alongside guitarist K.A.Z.

Nearly two hours of relentless energy and emotion followed as HYDE delivered a 19-song setlist spanning his career — from the ferocity of HYDE [INSIDE] (2024) to the iconic hits that built his legacy.

Opening with “LET IT OUT,” “I GOT 666,” “TAKING THEM DOWN,” and “SOCIAL VIRUS,” HYDE immediately commanded the stage with haunting charisma and unstoppable stamina. The crowd erupted when he launched into “GLAMOROUS SKY” and VAMPS-era favorites like “AHEAD” and “SEX BLOOD ROCK’N ROLL.”

Defying Age with Rock God Energy

At 56 years old, HYDE remains an unstoppable force. His voice — raspy, sharp, and full of fire — cut through the roaring guitars and pounding drums with the same intensity that made him a household name in Japanese rock.

The packed venue turned into a sea of headbanging fans, fists in the air, and synchronized chants. Every time HYDE prowled across the stage, his energy rippled through the crowd.

Then came one of the night’s biggest surprises: HYDE’s blistering cover of Linkin Park’s “Faint.”

Many expected him to perform My Chemical Romance’s “The Black Parade” — as he did a week earlier in Chiba, Japan — but the unmistakable opening riff of “Faint” sent the audience into chaos. HYDE’s piercing screams and raw emotion paid homage to the late Chester Bennington, leaving fans in awe as they shouted every lyric back at him.

From Rendang Cravings to Water Gun Mayhem

During the pre-show press conference, HYDE revealed that Jakarta was his only Southeast Asian stop on the tour — not only because of his devoted fanbase, but also because of one very specific reason: food.“I love rendang — number one food in the world!” HYDE exclaimed onstage, before laughing,

“It’s so spicy… but I want more rendang!”

The crowd roared with laughter and applause — a moment that perfectly captured HYDE’s charming, playful side.

That same energy carried into the encore. After performing “Last Song,” HYDE disappeared from the stage — only to reappear in the audience stands for “PANDORA.”

Armed with a toy water gun, he sprayed the crowd while strutting through the aisles, turning the concert into a full-blown rock carnival. Fans screamed with delight, capturing every moment on their phones as HYDE proved yet again that his creativity knows no bounds.

A Bittersweet Nostalgia: “Honey” and the Final Encore

As the night neared its end, HYDE gave fans one last surprise — a heartfelt throwback to his L’Arc~en~Ciel days. The familiar intro of “Honey” sent waves of nostalgia through the venue, as the entire audience sang every word in unison.

It was a beautiful, emotional moment — a bridge between past and present, between the iconic frontman of the ’90s and the solo artist who continues to reinvent himself today.

HYDE then unleashed a final surge of adrenaline with “GLAMOROUS SKY” and “SEX BLOOD ROCK’N ROLL.” His voice soared above the pounding drums and roaring guitars one last time, before closing the night with a heartfelt message in Bahasa Indonesia:“Luar biasa! Terima kasih banyak, Jakarta!”

(“Amazing! Thank you so much, Jakarta!”)

As the lights dimmed and the crowd kept chanting his name, one thing became clear — Jakarta didn’t just witness a concert; it experienced a masterclass in rock performance.

HYDE proved, once again, that legends don’t age — they evolve, electrify, and live forever on stage.
