The 5th anniversary celebration of Jujutsu Kaisen on August 31 delivered major news that immediately electrified fans. A new compilation film titled “Jujutsu Kaisen: Shibuya Incident Special Edition × Culling Game Advance Screening” has been officially announced and is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on November 7, 2025, followed by a gradual worldwide release. Alongside the announcement, studio MAPPA also unveiled a striking new key visual.
The film will re-edit and re-present the massive Shibuya Incident battle in a special compilation format, while also screening the first two episodes of the Culling Game arc from the upcoming third season ahead of its TV broadcast. The promotional visual shows Yuji Itadori raising his fist amid the ruins of Shibuya, while Yuta Okkotsu stands with his back turned—an unmistakable symbol of the intense clash awaiting these two students under the same mentor.
The celebration doesn’t stop there. The team also announced several returning theatrical releases. The blockbuster hit “Jujutsu Kaisen 0”, which once surpassed 265 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue, will return to theaters starting October 17, 2025. Meanwhile, the Hidden Inventory / Premature Death compilation is scheduled to screen in May 2025, further expanding the Jujutsu Kaisen universe on the big screen.
MAPPA also dropped a teaser PV confirming that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, focusing on Culling Game Part 1, will begin airing in January 2026. Beyond the anime and film announcements, several other projects were revealed: a large-scale “Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibition” in Ikebukuro from December 5–29, 2025, major updates coming to the mobile game Phantom Parade, and the return of “JujuFes 2026” set for next summer.
The manga by Gege Akutami debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018 and officially concluded in September 2024 after more than six years. Its total circulation—including digital editions—has surpassed 100 million copies worldwide, cementing its global impact. The anime adaptation began in 2020, followed by the highly acclaimed second season in 2023 featuring the Hidden Inventory and Shibuya Incident arcs, both of which paved the way for the highly anticipated third season.
This latest film will serve as an essential bridge connecting the Shibuya Incident to the Culling Game, presented in a cinematic format with 5.1 surround sound optimized for theaters. It explores the moment when Yuta Okkotsu—the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0—is assigned as the executioner of Yuji Itadori, setting the stage for an emotional confrontation between two characters bound by fate.
The Culling Game arc itself portrays a Japan thrown into chaos following the creation of ten new colonies after the Shibuya incident. Amid this upheaval, Yuji must face the devastating reality of Yuta—one of the strongest sorcerers alive—pointing his blade at him. Their battle is expected to become one of the most dramatic and emotionally charged duels in the entire series.
“The meeting of two protagonists, the clash of cursed power, and a story steeped in darkness will once again come alive on the big screen,” the production team stated.
With a lineup of new projects—from special films and exhibitions to the arrival of Season 3—Jujutsu Kaisen continues to grow as one of the most influential and dominant anime franchises of the modern era.
