Rising K-pop girl group VVUP has officially landed in Jakarta for the very first time, marking a special moment not only for their fans but also for member Kim, who finally gets to return to her homeland. The group arrived in Indonesia as part of their collaborative project with fashion brand Mark & Lona, bringing excitement, music, and heartfelt stories along the way.
Beyond their packed promotional schedule, VVUP couldn’t hide their curiosity about exploring Jakarta. From local food to iconic hangout spots, the members eagerly shared their wish lists for experiencing the city like locals.
One of the most excited members was Suyeon, who admitted she wants to visit places she’s only ever heard about through Kim’s stories. At the top of her list is Blok M, a popular area known for its lively atmosphere and hangout culture.“Because Kim Eonni said Blok M is really fun, I want to go there together with the members someday,” Suyeon shared during the Mark & Lona – House Party with VVUP press conference on Friday (December 26, 2025).
Kim Wants to Take VVUP on a Jakarta Food Tour
As the only Indonesian member, Kim is eager to introduce her teammates to local flavors. One dish she’s especially excited to share is seblak, a spicy Indonesian comfort food.“I really want to take them on a tour around Jakarta. Maybe we can eat seblak together,” Kim said enthusiastically.
Food quickly became a fun topic during the press conference. Suyeon also mentioned her strong desire to try nasi goreng, while Paan, the group’s Thai member, expressed her interest in exploring Jakarta’s food scene more broadly.
When asked if there’s a picky eater in the group, Kim revealed—while laughing—that Suyeon is the only one.“None of us are picky eaters, except Suyeon. She doesn’t like green food,” Kim joked.
Suyeon immediately confirmed it with a smile, saying honestly, “Yes, I don’t like green food.”
Dream Collaboration with Kunto Aji
During the same press conference, Kim also shared a personal dream she’s held for years: collaborating with Indonesian singer-songwriter Kunto Aji. She revealed that she has been a huge fan long before her debut in Korea.“Even before my debut, I was already a big fan of Mas Kunto Aji. So if I ever get the chance, I really want to collaborate with him,” Kim said.
Kim, whose full name is Kimberley Fransa Salim, also shared how emotional this visit has been for her. Despite debuting with VVUP on April 1, 2024, this marks her first time returning to Indonesia since beginning her trainee and idol journey. “This is my first time coming home after two years since debuting with VVUP. I feel very emotional—everything feels mixed because I really missed Indonesia,” she said.
During her intensive training period, Indonesian food was what she missed the most—especially Nasi Padang, which she’s been craving for a long time.
VVUP consists of Kim, Suyeon, Jiyoon, and Paan, and is under the agency EgoENT. Remarkably, the group debuted after only six months of training, a relatively short period by K-pop industry standards.
Since debuting, VVUP has released several well-received tracks, including “Doo Doom Chit,” “Locked On,” and their latest single “House Party.” Their visit to Indonesia not only celebrates their collaboration with Mark & Lona, known for its premium golf-inspired street luxury fashion, but also symbolically marks Kim’s long-awaited homecoming.
For VVUP, this trip is more than just work—it’s about connection, culture, and creating memories together in Jakarta.
