Viu Launches Viu Shorts, Bite-Sized Vertical Dramas Designed for Mobile Viewers Featuring Curated Micro-Dramas from China, Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia

Designed to complement Viu’s premium series and movie lineup, Viu Shorts delivers a faster, more compact viewing experience tailored to today’s on-the-go audiences.

Viu Shorts presents a curated selection of micro-dramas, each consisting of 1–3 minute episodes in a vertical format, making them ideal for mobile screens. The format is created for viewers seeking instant entertainment without compromising on storytelling quality or emotional depth.

According to Janice Lee, CEO of Viu and Managing Director of PCCW Media Group, the launch of Viu Shorts marks a strategic response to evolving audience behavior.

Viu Shorts offers a diverse collection of multi-language micro-dramas across a wide range of genres. Content is available in Mandarin, Korean, Thai, and Indonesian, with popular genres including romance, thriller, fantasy, and variety, all supported by localized subtitles.

From a user experience perspective, Viu Shorts is fully optimized for mobile viewing and seamlessly integrated into the Viu app. A newly enhanced bottom navigation allows users to switch effortlessly between short-form content and Viu’s full-length series and movie library.

Viu Shorts adopts a freemium access model. All Viu users can enjoy selected content for free, while subscribers receive unlimited access to the complete micro-drama catalog, with advertising tailored to each subscription tier.

To ensure content quality and diversity, Viu has partnered with leading micro-drama distributors and production houses, including Rising Joy, KT Studiogenie, China Huace, 1001 Frames, and Youhug Media.
