Netflix has officially unveiled the trailer and original soundtrack album for its latest Indonesian series, Night Shift for Cuties, a coming-of-age drama that blends friendship, ambition, and the vibrant world of K-pop fandom.
Premiering on June 4, 2026, the eight-episode series follows the journey of Muti and Jenar, two young women whose shared passion for a K-pop girl group sparks an unforgettable adventure filled with challenges, personal growth, and heartfelt moments.
A Soundtrack Inspired by K-Pop Culture
Ahead of the series launch, Netflix released six original songs performed by the fictional girl group Purple Tea, the idol group that inspires both Muti and Jenar throughout the story.
The soundtrack captures the emotional highs and lows of the characters’ journey, featuring catchy K-pop-inspired tracks such as *“B-B-Believe It,” “Goodbye, Badbye,”* and *“Obsesh Wit U.”* Fans can also enjoy songs like *“Jelly,” “Life Like Lies,”* and a remix version of *“Goodbye, Badbye.”*
All tracks are now available across major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music, while also being accessible for use on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.
Chasing a Dream in Seoul
The newly released trailer offers a deeper look into the lives of Muti and Jenar, portrayed by Shenina Cinnamon and Nadya Syarifa. The pair meet while working at a Korean convenience store and quickly bond over their admiration for Purple Tea.
Their biggest dream is to attend the group’s concert in Seoul, South Korea. However, turning that dream into reality proves far from easy. Along the way, they must navigate family responsibilities, friendship conflicts, financial struggles, and the pressures of everyday life.
More than just a story about fandom, *Night Shift for Cuties* explores how dreams can inspire people to overcome obstacles and discover their own identities.
Monica Tedja Tribute to Passion and the Entertainment Industry

The series marks the television debut of director Monica Vanesa Tedja, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Aline Djayasukmana.
According to Monica, the idea originated from observing a close friend whose life was transformed after becoming a devoted K-pop fan.
“I was inspired by a friend who became an ARMY. Before that, he was completely different. Suddenly, he had a new spark in his eyes, a stronger sense of purpose, and more passion for life. That transformation made me interested in exploring the power of admiration and fandom,” Monica shared during a press conference in Jakarta.
More Than K-Pop: A Story About Women’s Challenges
While K-pop serves as the backdrop, the creators emphasize that the series also offers a deeper commentary on the expectations placed on women in modern society.
Producer and co-writer Aline Djayasukmana explained that the entertainment industry often reflects broader societal pressures, including unrealistic beauty standards and age-related expectations.
“Women face many challenges, especially in industries where appearance is constantly scrutinized. Through Purple Tea, we wanted to explore those pressures while also breaking stereotypes,” Aline said.
One example is the character Boki, a plus-size leader of the fictional girl group, who represents the creators’ effort to challenge traditional beauty standards often seen in the entertainment industry.
Strong Chemistry On and Off Screen
Both lead actresses revealed that their shared interest in music helped build a natural connection during filming.
Shenina Cinnamon praised her co-star for introducing her to the world of K-pop and helping her better understand the culture that drives the series.
Meanwhile, Nadya Syarifa described the project as deeply personal, saying she immediately connected with Jenar’s struggles and aspirations. The role also marks an important milestone in her acting career.
A Fresh Addition to Netflix Indonesia
Produced by Soda Machine Films, *Night Shift for Cuties* is backed by producers Lucky Kuswandi and Kevin Ryan Himawan. The series also features performances from Emir Mahira, Gabrielle Novangeline, Ryou Jau Hyun, Kim Ye Jin, Baek Seo Ra, and several other talented cast members.
With its blend of humor, emotion, friendship, and K-pop-inspired energy, *Night Shift for Cuties* offers a refreshing look at the dreams and realities faced by young people today.
