Jakarta, Indonesia — Anime Festival Asia (AFA), Southeast Asia’s premier celebration of Japanese pop culture, is set to make a spectacular return to Indonesia with its landmark 10th edition. Taking place on August 15–16, 2026, at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, AFA Indonesia 2026 (AFAID26) promises an unforgettable weekend filled with anime, music, cosplay, gaming, creators, exclusive merchandise, and immersive fan experiences.
Under this year’s inspiring theme, “Celebrate the Magic of Japan Pop Culture,” AFAID26 is more than just a festival—it’s a tribute to the vibrant community that has supported the event over the past decade and a celebration of the unforgettable moments that unite fans through their shared passion.
A Decade of Bringing Japanese Pop Culture to Indonesia
Since its Indonesian debut, Anime Festival Asia has grown into one of the country’s largest and most beloved Japanese pop culture events. As part of AFA’s regional journey across Southeast Asia since 2008, the festival has welcomed millions of visitors while connecting fans with the latest in anime, gaming, music, cosplay, creators, and Japanese entertainment.
“Reaching our 10th edition in Indonesia is an incredible milestone for AFA,” said Shawn Chin, Founder & Managing Director of SOZO. “Indonesia has always been one of the most passionate and important markets for Japanese pop culture. We’re grateful to the fans who have grown with us throughout the years, and AFAID26 reflects our continued commitment to bringing the very best of anime, music, creators, and Japanese entertainment experiences to Indonesia.”
Where Every Fan Can Experience Their Own Magic
The theme “Celebrate the Magic of Japan Pop Culture” perfectly captures what makes AFA special. Whether it’s watching your favorite artists perform live, meeting special guests, discovering new creators, showcasing your cosplay, hunting for exclusive merchandise, or simply sharing memorable moments with friends, every visitor will have their own unique magical experience.
Festival-goers can look forward to anime showcases, interactive exhibition booths, official merchandise, a vibrant Creator Market, cosplay activities, live stage programs, and exclusive content featuring some of Japan’s biggest and newest titles. Industry partners, exhibitors, artists, performers, and creators will also come together to create a dynamic space where fans can explore new interests while reconnecting with the franchises and communities they love.
As always, AFAID26 will serve as a gathering place for Indonesia’s thriving anime and cosplay community, encouraging creativity, friendship, and unforgettable shared experiences.
Seika Returns with a Stunning New Look
Fans will also be reunited with AFA’s beloved mascot, Seika, who returns with a completely redesigned appearance by renowned Japanese illustrator LAM.
Inspired by this year’s theme, Seika embodies the imagination, creativity, and sense of wonder that bring anime fans together. LAM is widely recognized for his work on the arcade rhythm game WACCA, the takt op. multimedia project, and as the character designer for Hololive Indonesia’s Kureiji Ollie. Having previously created AFA Indonesia’s official key visuals in 2024 and 2025, LAM once again lends his signature style to commemorate AFA Indonesia’s historic 10th anniversary.
Two Nights of Spectacular Live Music
When the sun goes down, the excitement continues with the highly anticipated AFA Concert Weekend, delivering two nights of live Japanese music and unforgettable performances.
Saturday, August 15 – AFA Music Festival
Saturday night will feature the return of the legendary AFA Music Festival, headlined by an exciting lineup of Japanese artists including:
- SPYAIR
- kz (livetune)
- Isekaijoucho
- More artists to be announced soon.
Rock powerhouse SPYAIR, known for producing some of anime’s most iconic theme songs, is expected to ignite the stage with their explosive live performance and fan-favorite hits.
Meanwhile, pioneering producer kz (livetune) brings his signature electronic sound, made famous through the global hit “Tell Your World” and numerous anime and game collaborations.
Adding a unique artistic dimension is Isekaijoucho, the virtual singer and multidisciplinary creator whose emotional storytelling, haunting vocals, and immersive performances have captivated audiences across Japan.
Sunday, August 16 – TOGENASHI TOGEARI Makes Southeast Asia Debut
One of AFAID26’s biggest highlights comes on Sunday as TOGENASHI TOGEARI brings its “Rinne no Kotowari” Southeast Asia Tour 2026 to Jakarta for its regional debut.
Following the worldwide success of the anime GIRLS BAND CRY, the real-life band behind the series will finally perform live for Indonesian fans. What makes TOGENASHI TOGEARI especially unique is that its members not only perform the anime’s songs but also provide the voices for their respective characters, creating a rare fusion of anime storytelling and live musical performance.
Fans can expect an emotionally charged concert featuring powerful vocals, heartfelt performances, and the authentic spirit of one of recent years’ most talked-about anime music franchises.
