After the huge success of Lembayung, Baim Wong will work on a new horror film titled Sukma. This drama-thriller-horror genre film is written by Baim in collaboration with Ratih Kumala (author of the novel Gadis Kretek). Baim Wong has gathered big actors for his second film, including Luna Maya, Christine Hakim, Oka Antara, Fedi Nuril, Anna Jobling, Kimberly Ryder, and Asri Welas.
Baim Wong admitted that he was interested in making Sukma because the story offered something different from typical horror films.
“I don’t like unrealistic appearances, and when I met Ratih, there was one script about a mirror with no appearances at all,” said Baim during a press conference at his office on Wednesday (22/1/2025). Sukma will follow the story of Arini and her family.
Arini and her family move to a small town to start a new life, but it turns into a disaster after they find an ancient mirror in a secret attic. Various shadowy figures emerge from the mirror and frighten Arini’s family. Bu Sri, the housekeeper who is always polite, holds the key to all the strange occurrences.
Little by little, the secret is uncovered that the old woman inside the mirror wants Arini’s body to regain her youth. Sukma will begin filming in Yogyakarta.
