Jakarta, March 1, 2025 — Featuring a beautiful and romantic setting enriched with culture and a love triangle story, the romance film “Made in Bali” leaves a deep impression on its viewers. This is especially true for the audiences in Bali, who feel a close connection to the story depicted in the film. “Made in Bali” follows the story of Made (Rayn Wijaya), a young puppeteer from Gianyar, Bali, who is already arranged to marry Putu (Bulan Sutena), the daughter of a puppet maker.
Made never realized that Niluh (Vonny Felicia), his best friend, who is also a Balinese-Japanese girl, has been in love with him for a long time. One day, Niluh is set to be taken back to Japan by her father, Makoto (Nobuyuki Suzuki). That’s when Made realizes that he loves Niluh. He also realizes that his relationship with Putu was never based on love. Made then decides to confess his love to Niluh through a unique anime-inspired shadow puppet performance. However, Made’s intentions are discovered by Putu, leading to the breakdown of his relationship with Putu, while Niluh rejects Made’s feelings.
“Made in Bali” is a special work for Bulan Sutena, a singer and actress from Bali, who plays a character that represents her hometown on the big screen.
“I am Balinese, born and raised in Bali, and my parents are also originally from Bali. So playing as Putu in this film didn’t require much effort to learn the dialect or the typical movements of Balinese people. Because in this film, I am being myself,” said Bulan Sutena.
Directed by J.P. Yudhi and produced by Joseph Tarigan, “Made in Bali” also features executive producers Joseph Tarigan, Jemima Tarigan, Roy Shakti, Laudamus, Arianto Widjaja, and Albert Tjandranegara. The film stars Rayn Wijaya, Vonny Felicia, Bulan Sutena, Naomi Hitanayri, Victor Agustino, Harindra Pasimpangan, Roja Itakimo, Swetajaloe, Wina Marino, Nobuyuki Suzuki, Tri Ningtyas, Dian Sidik, and Siska Salman.
“Made in Bali” is currently still playing in cinemas across Bali and serves as a treat for Indonesian audiences during this month of goodness. For the latest updates on “Made in Bali,” follow the official Instagram accounts @madeinbali_themovie and @joshpictures_official.
