On Saturday night, August 2, 2025, idol singer Kim Jong-dae, better known as Chen from the famous K-pop group EXO, wowed the audience at the Pre-Christmas K-Pop Concert held at Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta. For this rare opportunity, Chen revealed he had prepared thoroughly to give his best performance for his loyal fans, the EXO-Ls in Indonesia.“I prepared very carefully because it’s been a long time since I visited Indonesia, so I wanted to perform with full energy,” Chen said enthusiastically.
Performing Solo Hits and Favorite OST Songs
Chen performed about six of his popular solo songs, including “Everytime,” the theme song for the hit drama Descendants of the Sun, and “Best Luck.” He also sang the title track from his third mini album, Last Scene, such as the song with the same name, “I Don’t Even Mind,” as well as “Shall We?” from his second mini album Dear My Dear, and “Beautiful Goodbye.”
The concert atmosphere grew even more vibrant as fans sang along with Chen. This moment brought a warm smile to his face and he expressed his gratitude.“You guys are amazing when you sing along. We’ve waited so long to meet, so we have to sing together,” Chen said warmly.
The Journey and Challenges Behind “Last Scene”
During a sharing session, Chen revealed his personal experience preparing his mini album Last Scene, released in November 2022. He admitted feeling nervous as it had been a while since his last solo activity.“This was my first solo project since Dear My Dear in 2019. I felt nervous releasing a new album, and the challenge was how to deliver the songs in the best way for EXO-L,” Chen explained.

As an introvert (based on MBTI), Chen shared his usual way of spending Christmas — preferring to stay home rather than going out.
A Promise to Return to Indonesia
Before ending his performance, Chen sincerely thanked the Indonesian EXO-Ls who had come to sing along with him.“It’s been a long time since I was in Jakarta. Thank you for coming and singing with me. I promise I will come back to Indonesia again,” he said with a smile.
Album Comeback Teased and Thoughts on “Everytime”
Before the show, Chen attended the KOSTCON 2025 press conference and revealed that he is currently preparing a new album for an upcoming comeback.“Recently, I’ve been preparing a new album and I will do my best so I can meet all of you again, especially EXO-L in Indonesia,” he shared.
Chen also spoke about the song “Everytime,” the soundtrack for the hit 2016 drama Descendants of the Sun, starring Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki.“I received a lot of support and love from fans, so I’m very happy, thank you,” Chen said sincerely.

Besides Chen, the concert was enlivened by legendary OST singers such as Kim Bum Soo, K.Will, Heize, Lyn, Soyou, and Lee Mujin. KOSTCON 2025 is Indonesia’s biggest Korean drama OST concert, highlighting OST music as an independent genre and connecting fans emotionally with the drama stories through songs.
