Jakarta became the stage for a warm encounter between Esther Yu and Lilpomz at the iQIYI Starship | VISION+ Combo Asia Meet and Greet event. The event was successfully held on November 26, 2025, at the Jakarta Concert Hall, iNews Tower.
With a bright smile, Esther opened the event with a simple yet adorable greeting in Indonesian, “Hello everyone, you’re so cute.” This instantly melted the atmosphere and boosted Lilpomz’s excitement.
Second Visit to Indonesia
Esther revealed that this was her second visit to Indonesia. During her first visit, she came only for a vacation and sightseeing, but this time she was here to meet her fans in person. Esther also expressed her gratitude to fans from Indonesia and China who attended. In Indonesian, she said, “Terima kasih.”
Discussing Her Role in the Drama Speed in Love
At the event, Esther shared stories about her role as Jiang Mu in the drama Speed in Love. She described Jiang Mu as a brave and strong woman: “She’s a strong and courageous female character. She’s willing to travel far abroad to meet her brother. After meeting him, even though they have different cultural backgrounds, she continues to stay strong to remain by her brother’s side abroad.”
Esther portrayed Jiang Mu from age 18 to 27, which she found challenging because she had to adapt to the character’s changing traits, maturity, and fashion style. Esther explained that she was involved in the creative process of choosing the costumes. For two months, she discussed with the design team to create a different look for each season.
In the end, she confidently said in Indonesian, “My film is very good.”
A Hobby of Learning Indonesian
Esther Yu is known as a multitalented actress with many hobbies, from photography and fishing to fashion styling. However, during the meet and greet, she added a new hobby—learning the Indonesian language.
“I’m really good at learning languages. In just 10 minutes, I can do it,” she said.
Without hesitation, Esther said, “I love you,” which made the Lilpomz cheer loudly.
A Special Surprise for Indonesian Lilpomz
To make the event even more special, Esther prepared a surprise for Indonesian Lilpomz. She sang the song Dayung Sampan, which she said has a popular version in China titled Tian Mi Mi. She also sang a snippet of “Kacamata” by Afgan.
Not stopping there, she also tried following Indonesian TikTok trends, including the poco-poco dance, and attempted longer Indonesian phrases like, “I’m shaking because you’re so cute,” and learned a new word—“mantul.”
Tasting Indonesian Cuisine
In one segment, Esther tried various Indonesian dishes and drinks, including fried rice, batagor, cilok, satay, and seblak. Among all the dishes, cilok became her favorite. “Perfect—the stickiness, the softness, a bit spicy, chewy, delicious!”
She also tried Indonesian desserts such as kue ape, chocolate martabak, and cheese martabak. Esther even requested to take some martabak home because she loved the taste. Additionally, she sampled drinks like es teler, es cendol, and avocado juice.
Special Moment: Watching a Video Project and Reading Letters
During the meet and greet, Esther read five selected letters from fans who attended. She felt touched and grateful for the heartfelt messages. She also shared that the night before, upon arriving at the airport, she received many letters and secretly read them late at night until she cried because she was moved.
The atmosphere grew more emotional when the fan-made video project was shown. Esther sincerely said:
“Thank you, Lilpomz Indonesia. Actually, I was about to cry before seeing the iQIYI advertisement, but my tears came back up after it appeared. I hope I’ll have many more chances to meet all of you.”
Before leaving the stage, Esther again said, “I love you,” to the fans in attendance. She waved and said in Indonesian, “Sampai jumpa kembali.”
The meet and greet ended with a warm atmosphere, leaving sweet memories not only for the fans but also for Esther Yu.
