A Rock Legend from Japan’s Biggest Band
As the lead vocalist of L’Arc-en-Ciel, HYDE helped shape the essence of Japanese rock. The band has performed at Tokyo Dome twenty times (each with a capacity of around 50,000 people) and made history as the first Japanese band to headline Madison Square Garden. Since their debut, L’Arc-en-Ciel has released twelve studio albums and forty-four singles, with over 40 million records sold worldwide. In January 2025, the band celebrated HYDE’s birthday with a two-night event, “L’Arc-en-Ciel LIVE 2025 hyde BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION”, at Tokyo Dome, drawing around 100,000 fans.
In 2008, HYDE formed VAMPS with guitarist K.A.Z (OBLIVION DUST). VAMPS quickly gained international recognition, selling out shows across Asia and South America. Their relentless touring and energetic sound cemented HYDE’s reputation as a versatile artist unafraid to break boundaries.
Most recently in 2022, HYDE launched THE LAST ROCKSTARS (TLRS) with fellow legends YOSHIKI (X JAPAN), SUGIZO (LUNA SEA, X JAPAN), and MIYAVI. During their debut tour in early 2023, TLRS sold out all shows in Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles—a testament to their global influence and HYDE’s timeless appeal.
Solo Career & Recent Highlights
HYDE’s solo work transcends borders. In September 2024, he released “HYDE [INSIDE]”, his first original studio album in nearly five years. Produced by world-class collaborators, the album offers an intimate look into HYDE’s creative soul.
The 2024 “HYDE [INSIDE]” tour drew 65,600 attendees across 17 shows in Japan, and 14,800 fans at 9 international performances (7 in Asia, 2 in the U.S.). HYDE’s 2024 calendar also included appearances at 16 festivals in Japan and 2 major festivals in Asia. Looking ahead to 2025, HYDE plans to expand globally with shows in South America and Europe as part of a full-scale world tour.

During his ambassadorial visit, HYDE was honored by the President of Austria and received a custom Swarovski hat, highlighting his cultural impact.
HYDE has toured the United States as a special guest for major bands such as IN THIS MOMENT, I PREVAIL, SIXX:A.M., STARSET, and APOCALYPTICA. He has also invited international artists—including STARSET, BUCKCHERRY, HIM, and GERARD WAY of MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE—to join his tours in Japan.
