Ji Chang Wook Shares His Experience Filming Across Indonesia

South Korean actor Ji Chang Wook shared his memorable journey traveling through several Indonesian islands while filming the new reality series ABRACADABRA: The Galaxy of Ultimate Healing.

In this project, he explored Bali, Yogyakarta, and Sumba alongside Indonesian stars such as Pevita Pearce, Bryan Domani, Vanesha Prescilla, Maxime Bouttier, Agung Karmalogy, and Dikta Wicaksono.

During the press conference held in Jakarta on Friday (28/11), Ji Chang Wook revealed that the filming schedule was intense and exhausting at times. Yet, the experience of traveling through Indonesia’s islands turned into a healing journey for him.

“We traveled around beautiful Indonesian islands, learning about the local culture and history. It truly felt like healing,” said the star of The K2.

Ji Chang Wook’s Version of Healing: Rest and Reconnecting with Nature

For Ji Chang Wook, healing comes in different forms—one of them being rest.

“Rest is important. I work nonstop, so both my body and mind need a break,” he said.

Throughout the filming journey, he found moments of peace: walking along Sumba’s sunny beaches with Vanesha, sharing laughter with Pevita, adventuring with Maxime, Bryan, and Agung, and bonding with local “Genies” who guided him. Each destination gave him space to breathe and appreciate Indonesia on a deeper level.

Falling in Love with Kintamani’s Sunrise: “All the Fatigue Disappeared”

Of all the destinations he visited, Ji Chang Wook admitted that he was most captivated by the sunrise in Kintamani, Bali. Though filming required him to wake up around 3 AM—right after a late-night shoot at another location—the moment the sun rose made everything worth it.

“I wondered why we had to shoot this early. But once I saw the sunrise in Kintamani, all the tiredness just disappeared. It was beautiful,” he recalled.

The breathtaking scenery he encountered throughout Indonesia also helped ease the exhaustion felt by him and the entire crew.

Technology That Blends Seamlessly Into the Journey

Behind the emotional and human-centered narrative, Samsung’s technology also plays a role in the story. Devices like the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Buds, and Galaxy AI appear naturally throughout the journey—helping with translation, discovering local stories, and even monitoring the cast’s health.

According to Andi Airin, Head of MX Marketing & Demand Generation at Samsung Electronics Indonesia, the goal was to show that technology can be a companion in the healing process.

“It’s not just about being advanced. It’s about integrating technology into real life—how it accompanies us while experiencing culture, nature, and personal moments,” she explained.

Country Manager of Viu Indonesia, Avijit Dutta, added that this series sets a new standard for creative collaboration by blending storytelling, technology, and global talent—while keeping human stories at its core.

A Journey That Deepened His Love for Indonesia

Throughout the production, Ji Chang Wook found countless new reasons to fall in love with Indonesia—from its majestic landscapes to its rich stories and warm-hearted people.

Closing the media session, he offered a heartfelt message to Indonesian fans:

“I hope you watch Abracadabra and feel the healing too. Because Indonesia gave that to me.”
