The atmosphere at Indonesia Comic Con (ICC) 2026 reached fever pitch on Sunday, October 4, when Japanese actor Mackenyu stepped onto the main stage at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The moment the One Piece live-action star appeared in front of the crowd, deafening cheers and screams erupted across the venue. Fans wasted no time pulling out their phones to capture Mackenyu’s highly anticipated appearance.

As the actor waved and greeted the audience, hundreds of visitors held their phones high, recording every moment. Some fans went a step further, bringing special banners and merchandise to show their support. One fan could be seen holding up a banner that read, “Love You Mackenyu.”

Mackenyu’s appearance quickly became one of the biggest highlights of the final day of Indonesia Comic Con 2026. He was among the international actors featured on Sunday, while international cosplayers, comic artists, and other creators also took part throughout the two-day event.

A Celebration of Pop Culture

Beyond the main stage, the excitement continued throughout the venue as visitors showed off their favorite characters through elaborate cosplay.

Fans dressed as characters from anime, manga, movies, video games, and various other corners of pop culture. Some costumes were elaborate and carefully crafted, while others offered a more playful take on beloved characters.

Not everyone, however, came dressed in costume. Many visitors simply arrived in their everyday clothes, taking the opportunity to explore the event, browse booths, meet fellow fans, and hunt for pop culture collectibles.

The exhibition area was packed with booths selling a wide range of merchandise, comics, toys, collectibles, accessories, and other pop culture-related products.

The lively atmosphere reflected the spirit of Indonesia Comic Con, which brings together fans of comics, toys, movies, gaming, cosplay, and creative communities under one roof.

Celebrating its 10th edition this year, ICC 2026 featured a packed lineup of activities, including exhibitions, talk shows, meet-and-greet sessions, cosplay parades, cosplay competitions, gaming competitions, movie panels, and creator workshops.

The creator area was also among the attractions drawing attention from visitors, adding another dimension to the event’s celebration of creativity and fandom.

Held on October 3–4 at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta, Indonesia Comic Con 2026 brought together a broad mix of pop culture communities and experiences. On its final day, Mackenyu’s appearance became one of the moments that stood out most.

Mackenyu Reveals His Favorite Anime

Mackenyu’s appearance was not just about greeting fans. During his session at Indonesia Comic Con 2026, the One Piece star also opened up about his favorite anime.

The actor took part in a fun exchange with the host, who challenged him to trade anime recommendations.

The host first mentioned several titles, including Erased, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Samurai Champloo, Princess Mononoke, and Ninja Scroll.

Mackenyu, however, admitted that he was momentarily confused by some of the English titles.

“You know what? I watch everything in Japanese, and everything has Japanese titles. I have to figure out what you guys are talking about. I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Mackenyu said on stage.

When it was his turn to recommend anime, the actor named three of his favorites: Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Hell’s Paradise, and The Eminence in Shadow.

“Okay. These are my picks. No particular order. I have to look up the titles because I don’t know how to say them in English,” he said.

But Mackenyu wasn’t done.

When asked whether he had any other recommendations, he immediately brought up three hugely popular anime titles: One Piece, Bleach, and Hunter x Hunter.

“That’s it. Besides One Piece, Bleach, and Hunter x Hunter. Those three,” he said.

The response drew an enthusiastic reaction from the crowd, particularly given Mackenyu’s connection to One Piece as the actor behind the live-action version of Roronoa Zoro.

With his energetic interaction with fans and candid conversation about anime, Mackenyu’s appearance added an extra dose of excitement to the closing day of Indonesia Comic Con 2026—and gave fans in Jakarta a memorable encounter with one of the stars of the global One Piece phenomenon.
