Nano-Mugen Fes 2025 Jakarta Canceled, AKFG Feels a Bad Omen

Jakarta, May 20, 2025 — Spectrum Management, the promoter for Nano-Mugen Fes 2025 Jakarta, has announced the cancellation of the music festival originally scheduled for May 24-25, 2025. The promoter cited challenges faced during the preparation phase as the reason for the cancellation.

Nano-Mugen Fes 2025 was a J-rock music festival set to feature artists whose names are often associated with anime. Some of the major acts scheduled to perform included Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Beck, KANA-BOON, Ellegarden, Quruli, and many more.

1. Promoter to Provide Refunds

In an official statement, Spectrum Management explained the difficulties encountered while preparing for the event at Ancol Ecopark.”After considering various challenges faced in Jakarta, we reached the difficult decision that we cannot proceed with the event without compromising the quality of the experience that we intended to provide to fans and the artists involved,” said Spectrum Management.

“We deeply apologize to all those who have been looking forward to this event. All tickets purchased will be fully refunded. The refund process will begin shortly through our ticketing partner,” they continued.
Along with the announcement, the official social media accounts for Nano-Mugen Fes and the artists involved also shared their regret over the cancellation and expressed their sorrow for not being able to meet fans in Indonesia.
“We apologize to all the fans who were looking forward to our performance for the inconvenience,” wrote Asian Kung-Fu Generation on Twitter.

2. Artists Question Concert Preparation

In a blog post on his personal page (https://note.com/gotch_akg), Masafumi Gotoh, the lead vocalist and guitarist of Asian Kung-Fu Generation, who initiated Nano-Mugen Fes, shared his experience of the past week in preparing for their live performance in Indonesia.
On May 12, the members of AKFG had a rehearsal and discussed the stage setup. It was on this day that they started to feel a bad omen about the certainty of the concert in Jakarta.”I don’t know if it’s because of the relaxed atmosphere in Indonesia or because of the staff here, but I often felt anxious as we were hardly given any information about what was going on,” said Gotch.

“The truth is, we didn’t even know how many people would attend. Regardless of what was happening, all members agreed to focus on delivering the best performance and enjoying the opportunity,” he added.

Fast forward to May 18, when AKFG members received the bad news and immediately held an emergency meeting.”We heard the bad news in the afternoon and held an emergency meeting. It left an indescribable heavy feeling. Given my position, I don’t know what I could have done, and I wasn’t able to do anything,” Gotch wrote.

“I thought I had done my job well, but I should have been honest about the discomfort I felt before any misunderstandings happened. However, that doesn’t mean the promoters were neglectful in their responsibilities,” he concluded.

Finally, the cancellation of Nano-Mugen Fes 2025 Jakarta was announced on May 19, 2025, a day after the emergency meeting.
