OTT platform WeTV is kicking off 2026 with major announcements. During the WeTV Always More 2026 event held in Jakarta on Wednesday (19/11/2025), WeTV revealed plans to expand its content lineup—venturing beyond the drama and series formats it is widely known for.
Febriamy Hutapea, Country Head of WeTV Indonesia, shared that WeTV is ready to explore new types of entertainment.“Tencent has brought many Chinese dramas to Indonesia. Indonesian audiences are very familiar with Mandarin content, and WeTV is here to revive the golden era of Chinese dramas while also supporting local content. We currently have 50 series available on WeTV,” Febri explained.
She added that WeTV will release 10 new series next year, and the platform is also considering branching out into new genres.“We want to offer fresh entertainment for Indonesian viewers. Every country has different preferences, and we continue to learn from both the successes and challenges of our content. The entertainment world is extremely dynamic, so we are committed to improving continuously,” she added.
Also present at the event was Jeff Han, VP of Tencent Video & WeTV Director, who expressed appreciation for the strong support from Indonesian viewers.“It’s hard to believe it has already been seven years since WeTV entered Indonesia. The enthusiasm from audiences here is incredible. Besides Chinese content, we are also investing heavily in WeTV Originals,” he said.
Similarly, Juan Xiang, Director of Tencent Video Overseas and Head of WeTV & Sanook, noted that the passion of Indonesian viewers for local WeTV content is a key reason Tencent continues to invest.

Zhou Yiran & Meng Ziyi: Impressed by Indonesian Fans and Falling in Love With Local Cuisine
One of the highlights of WeTV Always More 2026 was the appearance of two Chinese stars and Global Ambassadors of WeTV: Zhou Yiran and Meng Ziyi.
Zhou Yiran: Moved by the Warm Welcome From Fans
Visiting Indonesia for the first time, Zhou Yiran was visibly touched by the reception from his fans.“I was very surprised to see so many fans waiting for me at the airport. I truly felt the warmth and hospitality of Indonesian people,” he said.
He also praised WeTV’s role in bringing Chinese dramas to global audiences.
Zhou Yiran shared his excitement about exploring Indonesian culture—and cuisine.“Indonesia is beautiful. I tried nasi goreng and it tasted amazing. I also had the chance to walk around and see many unique buildings and attractions I’d never seen before,” he added enthusiastically.
For Yiran, fans hold a special place in his journey.“My fans are like family to me. Through my ups and downs, they are always there. I want to keep working harder for them,” he concluded.
Meng Ziyi: Delighted to Be Called “Kak Meng”
Fellow Global Ambassador, Meng Ziyi, also shared her joy at receiving warm support from Indonesian fans.“They are so enthusiastic. People usually call me Meng Ziyi or Ziyi, but here they call me ‘Kak Meng’. It feels very special,” she said with a smile.
Meng expressed her gratitude to WeTV for choosing her as a global ambassador.“Thank you to WeTV for giving us opportunities to play roles in its dramas and for helping our works reach viewers worldwide.”
She emphasized how important fans are to her career.“Fans are an inseparable part of my life and career. They give me incredible energy and help me get through challenges,” she said.
