Wrapping Up Their Asia Tour, ONE OK ROCK Delivers a Magical Performance in Jakarta

The long-awaited return of Japanese rock sensation ONE OK ROCK finally paid off for Indonesian J-rock fans. The alternative rock powerhouse successfully set Indonesia Arena in Jakarta on fire during their spectacular concert on Saturday night, May 16, 2026. The show also marked the final stop of their ONE OK ROCK: DETOX Asia Tour 2026.

After being absent from Indonesia for three years, Taka Moriuchi, Toru Yamashita, Ryota Kohama, and Tomoya Kanki were welcomed by tens of thousands of fans who had filled the venue since early evening. Excitement was already in the air long before the stage lights came on.

The concert kicked off explosively with “Puppets Can’t Control You,” one of the tracks from their latest album, DETOX(2025). The stunning stage production, Tomoya’s thunderous drumming, and Taka’s powerful vocals instantly ignited the crowd’s energy from the very first minute. Indonesia Arena quickly transformed into a sea of headbanging and singalongs.

The atmosphere reached another level when the opening notes of their legendary hit “The Beginning” echoed throughout the venue. The song, taken from their 2013 album Jinsei x Boku =, sent the entire arena into a frenzy. Fans passionately sang along from start to finish, creating one of the night’s most unforgettable moments.

In addition to their classic songs, ONE OK ROCK also delivered impressive performances of modern hits such as “Save Yourself” and “Renegades” from their 2023 album Luxury Disease. The perfect blend of old favorites and newer material made the concert feel complete, satisfying both longtime fans and newer listeners alike.

Between performances, frontman Taka Moriuchi took several moments to warmly interact with the audience. Indonesia has long been known as one of the band’s biggest fan bases in Asia, and Taka made sure to show his appreciation.

“How are you, Jakarta?! We’re ONE OK ROCK from Japan. We’re so happy to see you again. And tonight is the final Detox tour show in Asia!” Taka shouted from the stage, triggering deafening cheers from the crowd.

Although the concert was packed with high-energy performances, the emotional peak of the night came when the band slowed things down with their beloved ballad, “Wherever You Are.” The arena lights dimmed, thousands of phone flashlights lit up the venue, and the atmosphere suddenly became deeply intimate.

Before starting the song, Taka warmly invited everyone to sing together.

“We just want to have fun together with you guys. If you know the song, sing louder!” he said.

The iconic track from their 2010 album Niche Syndrome instantly turned Indonesia Arena into a massive choir. Thousands of fans sang every lyric flawlessly, creating a magical and emotional moment that gave many goosebumps.

There’s a reason why “Wherever You Are” remains one of the band’s most beloved songs. For many fans, it has become an anthem for long-distance relationships, portraying unconditional love, loyalty, and the promise to stay together despite the distance.

Interestingly, the song also carries a personal story for Taka. In an interview with Bandwagon Asia, he revealed that “Wherever You Are” was originally written as a wedding gift for a close friend who successfully overcame the struggles of a long-distance relationship before eventually getting married.

ONE OK ROCK’s performance in Jakarta once again proved that their stage presence and emotional connection with fans have only grown stronger over the years.

As the closing show of their Asia tour, the concert was more than just a music performance — it became a night filled with nostalgia, passion, and unforgettable memories that will stay with Indonesian fans for a long time.
