After almost three decades, legendary rock band Green Day will return to hold a concert in Indonesia. The concert titled Green Day Live in Jakarta will be held at Carnaval Ancol on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
CEO of Ravel Entertainment, Ravel Junardy, said Green Day’s presence would be an epic and historic performance. “As well as being a special gift for Green Day’s loyal fans who have been waiting for 29 years for them to come to Jakarta,” he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, August 15, 2024.
According to Ravel, Green Day is considered a very relevant band among the country’s music lovers. Especially after being involved to fill the soundtrack in the movie Deadpool & Wolverine, and bringing them in the near future is the right thing.
But Ravel admitted that it was not easy to invite Green Day to Indonesia. He shared a glimpse of his struggle to bring the band that has been established since 1987 to Indonesia. “It was actually quite difficult to invite them. The process has been quite long, I had to come to LA and be invited there,” he said.
His request to invite Green Day to Indonesia was only confirmed in the last few months. “It was confirmed approximately 7 to 8 months ago,” he said.
Although held separately, the concert that brought the band from California was part of a series of events celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Hammersonic festival. The series of commemorations of a decade of the prestigious rock festival in Indonesia will begin by presenting British metalcore band While She Sleeps on October 7, 2024, at Ecovention Hall Ancol, Jakarta.
Previously, the band consisting of Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass), and Tré Cool (drums) had also held concerts in Indonesia. Their first concert in Jakarta was in 1996 at the Jakarta Convention Center.
This time, they will return to visit their fans in Indonesia by performing a special setlist of 30 years of “Dookie” and 20th anniversary of “American Idiot”, their hit songs.
Green Day Live in Jakarta concert tickets are sold at the lowest price starting from Rp1,580,555 to the most expensive at Rp2,655,555. Tickets can be purchased on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 15.00 WIB through the official website www.greendayjktcom.com.
