Jakarta, August 11, 2026 — The mystery surrounding Bisikan Desa Gringsing is beginning to emerge with the release of its official poster and trailer. Written and directed by Ivander Tedjasukmana, the upcoming horror mystery is a collaboration between Mandela Pictures and Oceanus Media Global (OMG Studios) and is set to hit Indonesian cinemas on September 24, 2026.

Adding to the film’s appeal, Bisikan Desa Gringsing is being billed as the first Indonesian horror film produced using virtual production technology, a filmmaking approach designed to create a more immersive and cinematic experience for audiences.

Two Faces, One Hidden Mystery

The film’s official poster immediately sets an unsettling tone.

Featuring close-up portraits of two central characters, Hesti, played by Aghniny Haque, and Fatimah, portrayed by newcomer Fatmah Nahdi, the poster presents a striking contrast between the two women.

Hesti’s eyes reflect sheer terror, while Fatimah appears cold and almost expressionless. Look closely, however, and the mystery becomes even more disturbing: figures resembling the villagers of Gringsing can be seen reflected in Fatimah’s eyes.

The imagery hints that the two characters are deeply connected to the secrets buried within the village—and that there may be much more to their relationship than initially meets the eye.

The Official Trailer Reveals More Clues

Building on the teaser released in July, the official trailer offers audiences their first substantial glimpse into the story.

The film follows Hesti, who travels to Desa Gringsing in search of her missing father. But what initially appears to be a desperate search soon turns into a terrifying nightmare.

The village is trapped by the spirit of Fatimah, whose presence has turned Gringsing into a place of fear. Anyone who attempts to leave the village is met with a deadly fate, leaving the residents with seemingly no way out.

As Hesti begins investigating the village, she encounters a number of characters, each seemingly carrying secrets of their own. Among them are Gagan (Surya Saputra), Melati (Hesti Putri), Sukri (Kiki Narendra), and Rudi (Iskak Khivano).

The deeper Hesti goes, the more the mystery surrounding Gringsing begins to connect with her own traumatic past.

The trailer also brings back a familiar musical element from the earlier teaser: “Perjalanan Menawar Racun” by Kunto Aji, which serves as part of the film’s soundtrack. Its haunting presence adds another layer of emotion and mystery to the increasingly unsettling footage.

The trailer ends on an ominous note, with Melati delivering a chilling warning:“There will be no grudge left unavenged.”

According to producer Manoj Samtani of Mandela Pictures, the official trailer is intended to invite audiences deeper into the world of Bisikan Desa Gringsing.

He explained that each character in the village carries a piece of the larger mystery, with their individual stories eventually becoming connected.

The return of Kunto Aji’s “Perjalanan Menawar Racun” in the trailer was also deliberate, helping strengthen the emotional atmosphere and mysterious tone of the film.

Meanwhile, Nick GC Tan, Founder and CEO of Oceanus Media Global, praised the performances of Aghniny Haque and Fatmah Nahdi, particularly highlighting their portrayals of Hesti and Fatimah.

He described their performances as something that could remain with audiences even after the end credits roll, while expressing OMG Studios’ pride in supporting ambitious Indonesian storytelling with international potential.

At the center of the story is Hesti, a woman determined to find her missing father.

Her search eventually leads her to the mysterious Desa Gringsing, where the villagers live under constant fear. They are trapped by the spirit of Fatimah, and anyone who attempts to escape the village risks being killed.

But the mystery surrounding Hesti’s father is only the beginning.

As secrets hidden within the village gradually come to light, Hesti discovers that the events in Gringsing may be connected to painful experiences from her own past.

The film therefore goes beyond a traditional supernatural horror story. Its central mystery is built around the secrets carried by each character—and how one revelation can unlock another.

Bisikan Desa Gringsing features an ensemble cast including Aghniny Haque, Fatmah Nahdi, Surya Saputra, Kiki Narendra, Iskak Khivano, Hesti Putri, Iyang Darmawan, Akun Gege, Swetajaloe, Nina Tamam, Mian Tiara, Nizar Umar, Azkya Mahira, Shaqueena Medina Lukman, and Nazhira Rizka.

With its supernatural premise, psychological mystery, ensemble of characters, and use of virtual production technology, the film aims to offer a distinctive addition to Indonesia’s horror landscape.
