The arthouse cinema platform launches at CGV Bandung Electronic Center and CGV JWalk Mall Yogyakarta on October 10, 2026.
BANDUNG & YOGYAKARTA, October 9, 2026 — Film lovers in Bandung and Yogyakarta are about to have more opportunities to explore cinema beyond the mainstream. CGV Cinemas Indonesia is expanding its CGV Arthouse platform to the two cities, bringing a wider selection of film festival titles, independent productions, classic films, and works by students and emerging filmmakers closer to local audiences.
Starting October 10, 2026, CGV Arthouse will be available at CGV Bandung Electronic Center (BEC) and CGV JWalk Mall in Yogyakarta. The expansion follows the platform’s presence at CGV fX Sudirman in Jakarta, where it has served as a meeting point for films, audiences, communities, and professionals across the film industry.
Building on the positive response in Jakarta, CGV is taking its next step toward making diverse cinematic experiences more accessible. By establishing CGV Arthouse in Bandung and Yogyakarta, the company aims to connect more audiences with films that offer fresh perspectives, distinctive storytelling, and creative approaches to filmmaking.
“The presence of CGV Arthouse in Bandung and Yogyakarta is our next step in bringing audiences closer to films and the people who appreciate them. With active film ecosystems in both cities, we hope CGV Arthouse can become a space to enjoy films, meet one another, exchange perspectives, and celebrate cinema together,” said Mr. Mark, CEO of CGV Cinemas Indonesia.
A Curated Lineup to Explore This October
To celebrate the expansion, CGV Arthouse has prepared a selection of films scheduled to screen throughout October, offering audiences a mix of Indonesian horror and international supernatural thrills.
KERAMAT — October 10, 2026
Directed by Monty Tiwa and starring Poppy Sovia, Migi Parahita, and other talented cast members, KERAMAT follows a film crew as they begin production on their first feature film. However, their filmmaking journey takes a terrifying turn when they encounter a series of mysterious supernatural events in Yogyakarta.
Blending the atmosphere of a film production with unsettling supernatural encounters, KERAMAT invites viewers into a chilling story where the line between filmmaking and the unknown begins to blur.
THE INNOCENTS — October 14, 2026
Set during a bright Nordic summer, THE INNOCENTS explores a disturbing side of childhood. When adults are not watching, a group of children begins to reveal mysterious and dark powers, transforming ordinary playtime into something increasingly dangerous.
Directed by Eskil Vogt, this original supernatural thriller builds tension through an unsettling premise, challenging viewers to look beyond the seemingly innocent world of childhood.
MIMPI BURUK RESOLUSI RENDAH — October 21, 2026
Bringing audiences back to the distinctive era of Indonesian horror in the 2000s, MIMPI BURUK RESOLUSI RENDAH is a horror anthology by Azzam Fi Rullah packed with unexpected twists and unconventional scares.
The film features four segments: Bangkai Nafsu, Trauma Kuntilanak, Pocong Hiu Unleashed, and Kuburan Berjalan. With its deliberately low-resolution aesthetic and nostalgic horror sensibilities, the anthology promises a unique viewing experience that embraces the quirks and thrills of the genre’s past.
A New Space for Film Lovers and Communities
More than just an expansion to new locations, CGV Arthouse represents an opportunity to bring different cinematic voices into the spotlight. From independent and festival films to classic titles and student productions, the platform aims to create a more inclusive space for audiences to discover stories that may not always be found in mainstream cinema.
With vibrant film communities in both Bandung and Yogyakarta, the expansion also opens up opportunities for audiences to connect through shared cinematic experiences, exchange ideas, and discover new perspectives through film.
