Chinese animated film All Wishes Come True is continuing its impressive box-office run in China, officially breaking into the country’s top five highest-grossing animated films of all time.

According to Lighthouse Professional data as of August 30, the film has earned approximately RMB 1.832 billion at the Chinese box office. The figure puts All Wishes Come True ahead of Chang An, which has grossed around RMB 1.824 billion.

With its latest achievement, the film now ranks fourth among the highest-grossing domestic animated films in China, further cementing its status as one of the country’s biggest animation hits.

A Fresh Take on the Legend of the Eight Immortals

Written and directed by Mu Zhengyang, All Wishes Come True draws inspiration from the traditional Chinese folk legend “The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea.”

Set during the Ming Dynasty, the story explores the events leading up to the emergence of the legendary Eight Immortals.

The adventure begins with two ordinary men, Lü Dongbin and Zhongli Quan, who come up with a daring plan to infiltrate a heavily guarded vault in the heavenly realm of Penglai. Their goal is to steal a magical lantern along with a collection of valuable treasures.

To carry out their mission, the pair recruits six other outcasts and ordinary people, forming a group of eight unlikely companions.

What initially appears to be a simple treasure hunt soon turns into an epic battle against a powerful enemy and a sinister conspiracy that threatens humanity.

As the story unfolds, the eight characters undergo a remarkable transformation. Driven initially by their own personal interests, they gradually discover what it truly means to become heroes.

Rather than seeking immortality or supernatural power, they learn that true greatness lies in having the courage to protect others.

Strong Reception From Chinese Audiences

Since its release, All Wishes Come True has received a positive response from audiences, earning impressive scores across several major Chinese movie platforms.

The film currently holds a 9.7 rating on Maoyan, 9.6 on Taopiaopiao, and 8.2 on Douban, highlighting its strong reception among moviegoers.

The animation also began expanding into international markets on August 13, bringing its fantasy-filled adventure to audiences outside China.

Despite already reaching the RMB 1.8 billion milestone, All Wishes Come True is still aiming even higher. As of August 30, the film remains approximately RMB 170 million away from reaching RMB 2 billion.

If it manages to cross that milestone, the film could further strengthen its position among China’s biggest animated box-office successes.

Indonesian audiences will not have to wait much longer to experience the animated sensation.

All Wishes Come True is scheduled to hit Indonesian cinemas through Cinema XXI starting September 2, 2026.
