What would you do if you were given one week to choose the person you will spend eternity with?
That is the central question behind Eternity, A24’s latest fantasy romantic comedy.
With a touching and thought-provoking premise, Eternity invites viewers to explore the afterlife through the eyes of Joan (Elizabeth Olsen), a woman who has just died and suddenly finds herself in a realm where she must make one crucial decision: choosing her true love.
A Dilemma in the Afterlife: A Lifetime Husband or a First Love?
In the world of Eternity, everyone who dies is granted seven days to decide where and with whom they want to spend eternity.
For Joan, the dilemma is not about a place—it’s about the two men who shaped her life:
Larry (Miles Teller)
The husband who stood by her side through decades, building a life and growing old together. Steady, loving, and dependable.
Luke (Callum Turner)
Joan’s first love, who died young in the war. His memory has lived in her heart for years, and now he has been waiting for her in the afterlife for decades.
What unfolds is an emotional battle between the past and the present, between a love that matured over time and a love that was intense yet unfinished.
This is not a typical love triangle—it is a heartfelt exploration of memory, longing, and the relationships that define us.
