Film If Mother Hadn’t Married Father Releases Official Trailer & Poster, A Reflection of Unspoken Family Wounds from a Mother’s Struggles In Theaters September 4, 2025

Jakarta, August 4, 2025 — After releasing an official teaser trailer that received a wave of positive responses from netizens, Rapi Films has now launched the official trailer for the film If Mother Hadn’t Married Father, a tearjerking emotional journey.

The film stars Sha Ine Febriyanti as Wulan, a mother of three daughters who still has to be the backbone of the family. Her eldest daughter, Anis, a single parent, is still struggling to find work. The second daughter, Alin, is fighting to stay in medical school as her scholarship is at risk. Meanwhile, the youngest, Aca, is still in high school.

In the official trailer, Sha Ine portrays a mother’s tireless struggle. Through her small laundry business, she fights for her daughters’ futures. Meanwhile, the father — played by Bucek — the only man in the household, has a presence that feels both there and absent.

The two-minute trailer invites viewers into the deeply emotional and intimate world of the three daughters — Alin (Amanda Rawles), Anis (Eva Celia), and Aca (Nayla Purnama) — as they try to understand the life choices of their parents. The trailer gradually reveals buried pain and complicated love within a family that seems ordinary on the surface.

Sha Ine Febriyanti is not just a mother to her daughters — she also plays the ‘father figure’ who climbs onto the roof to fix leaks during a heavy rain. Her fingers are in pain. Her steps are slow as she pushes a bicycle. She is like so many mothers we know — always trying to stay strong through adversity, hiding her exhaustion and sadness from her children.

“Maybe if Mom hadn’t married Dad, this fan wouldn’t be broken. The roof wouldn’t leak,” says Alin, played by Amanda Rawles, in the official trailer for If Mother Hadn’t Married Father.“Through the official trailer we released, this film seeks to uncover the layers within each character in the family — that every family member carries hidden struggles and wounds,”

— said executive producer Sunil Samtani.

Directed by Kuntz Agus, with story and screenplay by Evelyn Afnilia, If Mother Hadn’t Married Father stars Sha Ine Febriyanti, Amanda Rawles, Eva Celia, Nayla Purnama, Bucek, Indian Akbar, Ariyo Wahab, and young actor Bintang Alvarendra Soemardi.

Sunil Samtani serves as the executive producer of the film, which marks a collaboration between production houses Rapi Films, Screenplay Films, Legacy Pictures, and Vortera Studios.“In this family, the mother acts as the navigator, handling everything at home, including the needs of the children. She keeps her exhaustion to herself. Anis, Alin, and Aca represent the perspectives of women who are also fighting for one another in a household where a man’s presence is barely felt,”

— added story creator and screenwriter Evelyn Afnilia.“In this family, Alin is the second daughter with the highest ambitions, dreaming of making her mother happy. But there are things that almost make her give up on her dreams — if not for her mother’s tearful struggle,”

— said Amanda Rawles on her role as Alin.
