“JUMBO” Animated Film Reaches Over 4 Million Viewers Director Ryan Adriandhy Fulfills Promise with Stand-Up Comedy Special, “JUMBO” Becomes the Highest-Grossing Animated Film of All Time in Southeast Asia

Jakarta, April 16, 2025 — The animated film “JUMBO” continues to soar! After becoming the highest-grossing Indonesian animated film of all time, “JUMBO” has now also earned the title of the highest-grossing animated film in Southeast Asia, with over 4 million viewers.
“JUMBO” has surpassed the record previously held by the Malaysian animated film “Mechamato Movie” (2022). Its audience numbers have also exceeded several major Hollywood animated titles shown in Indonesia, including “Minions: The Rise of Gru” (2022) with over 2.5 million viewers and “Moana 2” (2024) with over 3.1 million viewers.

Now, having crossed the 4-million-viewer milestone, “JUMBO” is also on the verge of overtaking Disney’s “Frozen II” (2019), which is currently the highest-grossing animated film ever screened in Indonesia, with over 4.6 million viewers, according to box office aggregator Cinepoint.

“We are incredibly grateful that JUMBO has made history as the highest-grossing animated film in Southeast Asia. More than just numbers, this is a sign of the immense trust Indonesian audiences have in homegrown works.

From the beginning, our dream was simple — for JUMBO to touch hearts across generations and to help open the doors for a more sustainable Indonesian animation industry. That the film has come this far truly exceeds our expectations.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every Indonesian family who has joined JUMBO on this journey,”
— said JUMBO producer Anggia Kharisma.

A Special Gift from Ryan Adriandhy

With JUMBO surpassing 4 million viewers, director Ryan Adriandhy will now fulfill his promise to hold a Stand-Up Comedy Special Show. Ryan had previously vowed to return to the stand-up stage if the film reached this milestone.

A former stand-up comedian, Ryan is one of the founding members of the Stand-Up Comedy Indonesia community, and the winner of the first-ever national stand-up comedy competition, which set the foundation for many of Indonesia’s top comics today.

“About a year ago, even before JUMBO had a release date, I said: if this film hits 4 million viewers, I’ll do a Stand-Up Comedy Special.

And all of this happened because of the incredible support from the Indonesian audience. From the start, I told over 420 creative collaborators involved that we were aiming to set a new standard — something made with heart, love, and solid preparation.

And you all proved that a work like that can go this far. Thank you for all the love and support,”
— said JUMBO director Ryan Adriandhy.

“JUMBO” Goes Global in 17+ Countries

After its massive success and warm reception at home, “JUMBO” is now preparing to cross borders and capture hearts across more than 17 countries worldwide.

Global audiences will soon be able to join the Geng Jumbo crew — Don, Meri, Nurman, Mae, and Atta — on their magical and adventurous journey.

Full of wonder, adventure, and dreams, JUMBO is ready to spread joy and laughter not just to Indonesian families, but to families across the globe. Don’t miss this heartwarming story that has already brought millions of Indonesians together in theaters.
