Fans of heartfelt family dramas and Lay EXO enthusiasts, get ready!
The Chinese film MuMu: Silent Love, starring Zhang Yixing—better known as Lay EXO—will officially premiere in Indonesian theaters starting May 7, 2025.
Directed by Sha Mo, this emotionally rich film tells a moving story of unconditional love between a father and daughter, wrapped in a touching narrative about limitations, loss, and hope.
In the film, Lay EXO plays Xiao Ma, a deaf father who raises his daughter with deep affection in a deaf community. His performance in this role is highly anticipated, as it showcases a new side of his emotional and profound acting abilities.
Far beyond his reputation as a K-Pop idol, Lay proves his talent as an actor through a complex and touching character.
In addition to Lay EXO, the film also stars Li Luoan, Huang Yao, Vivienne Tien, Zhang Rou Nan, Yuan Wen Kang, and Ai Liya.
The story follows a 7-year-old girl named Mu Mu, who lives with her father, Xiao Ma, in a deaf community. Despite their limited circumstances and being raised by a single parent, Mu Mu experiences a joyful childhood, thanks to her father’s genuine love and the support of their community.
However, their happiness is disrupted when Mu Mu’s biological mother, Xiao Jing—who had long abandoned them—suddenly returns, hoping to win back her daughter’s heart. Xiao Jing brings Mu Mu into the “normal” hearing world.
Though this new world appears exciting, Mu Mu begins to feel emotionally distant from her mother. She soon realizes that true communication doesn’t always come from sound—it can be far more powerful through gestures and sign language.
From here, Mu Mu embarks on an inner journey to discover the true meaning of love, acceptance, and family.
MuMu: Silent Love is set to premiere across CGV and Cinepolis cinemas starting May 7, 2025—don’t miss it!
