Jakarta, August 13, 2025 — After the emotional success of titles like May I Cry Just Once and The Celebration of Numbness, Sinemaku Pictures returns with a heartfelt family drama, Only Your Name in My Prayers, offering a warm embrace for its audience.
Through the story of Arga (Vino G. Bastian) and Hanggini (Nirina Zubir) and their only daughter Nala (Anantya Kirana), the film begins with a picture of a harmonious family life. However, their happiness gradually fades when a life-altering event forces Arga to keep a painful secret to protect his wife and child from emotional harm.
The audience is invited to dive deep into a quiet emotional journey through the perspectives of a father as the family’s backbone, a mother who must find direction after her husband chooses to leave, and a teenage daughter who is most affected by the turmoil between her parents.
Vino and Nirina, as husband and wife and parents to an only child, deliver a wide range of emotional dynamics. From subtle shifts to extreme changes, their performances stir deep emotions in viewers.
Meanwhile, Anantya Kirana’s portrayal balances Vino and Nirina’s dynamics beautifully, making her role as Nala a breakthrough in her acting career. The appearance of actress Naysila Mirdad also adds narrative complexity, making this film not only a comforting embrace but also a reflective mirror for the audience.
Produced by Prilly Latuconsina, Umay Shahab, and Bryan Domani, and directed by Reka Wijaya, the film brings a fresh take to Indonesian cinema. Beyond the family crisis drama, it empathetically frames the quiet story of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) warriors—a rare disease affecting the nervous system—and the essential role of caregivers.“We hope this film can be a warm hug for everyone who is currently a caregiver, for those caring for someone ill. We hope it offers meaningful representation for them,” said producer Umay Shahab.“Beyond ALS warriors, the film is also about family life. It’s a reflection on how we build a home, manage conflicts between spouses, and how communication plays a crucial role. These are the vulnerabilities that can make love drift apart, even after being so close—just like Arga and Hanggini experience,” shared Vino G. Bastian.
Nirina Zubir, reunited with Vino after over two decades, added that the film carries a message about becoming a whole human being. Only Your Name in My Prayers reminds us of the importance of showing kindness to those closest to us, especially our families.“Kindness must be shown—not for image’s sake, but because we have the right to show it if it can create a positive atmosphere. This film taught me new lessons I hadn’t paid attention to before. It also has an educational side, shedding light on a rare disease and the caregivers who dedicate themselves wholeheartedly, even when physically and mentally drained,” said Nirina.
Director Reka Wijaya, who previously worked with Sinemaku Pictures on the blockbuster May I Cry Just Once, shared that the story in Only Your Name in My Prayers is very personal and close to his own life. The film serves as an alternative narrative about the value of sincerity.“This story aims to explore sincerity from a different angle. When I started writing the synopsis and developing the characters, it grew deeper and more personal. What I felt began to shape the main characters. Making this film brought up a lot of emotions—it reopened past experiences and feelings I had gone through,” explained Reka Wijaya.
Only Your Name in My Prayers stars Vino G. Bastian, Nirina Zubir, Anantya Kirana, Naysila Mirdad, Dinda Kanyadewi, Ge Pamungkas, Enno Lerian, Arswendi Bening Swara, and features a special appearance by veteran actor Slamet Rahardjo.
