The Film “Komang,” Presented by Starvision and Based on a True Story, Will Premiere in Indonesian Cinemas Starting from Eid 2025.

Jakarta, March 19, 2025 — Komang presents a sweet yet challenging love story between two young individuals, Raim Laode, also known as Ode (Kiesha Alvaro), and Komang Ade Widiandari (Aurora Ribero). Their story begins when they both live in the city of Baubau, Buton Island, Southeast Sulawesi.

Ode is portrayed as a young man from Buton with an interest in stand-up comedy and music, and is known for his religious devotion. Meanwhile, Komang is a woman from a transmigrant family from Bali who settled in Baubau. Despite their differences, Ode falls in love with Komang when they meet, and they eventually start a relationship. However, there are many obstacles they must face during their romance, from Ode pursuing his dreams in stand-up comedy and music, to the emergence of a third party who shares the same beliefs as Komang.

Produced by Starvision and from producer Chand Parwez Servia, Komang is based on the true life story of comedian and musician Raim Laode and Komang Ade Widiandari. The film, directed by Naya Anindita, invites the audience to follow the love story of this couple from different backgrounds.

Before being adapted into a film, Komang was also turned into a song written and performed by Raim Laode, which was released on August 17, 2022. Komang became a very popular song, with many people singing it. The song’s meaning reflects the essence of Ode and Komang’s relationship. Now, their story is presented in a more complete and beautiful way through a screenplay by Evelyn Afnilia.

“Through the film Komang, Starvision presents a celebration of love’s destiny, giving a more realistic depiction of Ode and Komang’s relationship. It shows how they first met, the various challenges they had to face, and the process of resolving those issues. Their love journey is beautifully packaged in this story, accompanied by the beautiful scenery of Baubau, which will make us long for our hometown. We hope that Indonesian audiences will be entertained and take valuable lessons from Ode and Komang’s relationship in this film,” said Komang producer Chand Parwez Servia.

Meanwhile, Komang director Naya Anindita added that depicting the relationship between Ode and Komang (Ade) and their families was also crucial. The involvement of their families played an important role in illustrating their love journey in the film.

“While focusing on the romance between Ode and Komang, the presence of each character’s family is also an important element in the film Komang. For example, the relationship between Komang and her mother (Ayu Laksmi) presents one of the obstacles in her romantic relationship with Komang. The presence of both Ode and Komang’s families in this film also adds an emotional element that the audience can feel when watching it,” said Komang director Naya Anindita.

The film Komang also marks Kiesha Alvaro’s first experience portraying a character based on a real person. Interestingly, in this film, Kiesha also acts alongside the real Raim Laode, who plays a supporting role.

“It’s such an honor for me to portray Raim Laode in the film Komang. I also had the opportunity to get to know him more during the shooting process, which helped me deeply understand the character of Ode that I am playing,” said Komang actor Kiesha Alvaro.

“I’ve lived in Bali since I was a child, so I’m familiar with the Balinese accent and dialect. I used those memories, although Starvision also provided a Balinese dialect coach, which made it easier for me to play Komang. I really love the character of Komang in this film,” added Aurora Ribero, who portrays Komang.

Raim Laode, whose story is featured in this film, expressed his happiness in working with Starvision because of their family-oriented approach. He also shared his joy that through Komang, he could tell the story of his love struggle with his wife.

“I’m very happy that through Komang, I can share the story of my love journey with my wife, which is written in the Lauhul Mahfudz. This is a story about two people who fall in love, despite having different backgrounds. But love conquers all. I hope that Komang will become family entertainment for the Eid al-Fitr holiday in cinemas and celebrate love with our loved ones,” said Raim Laode.

In addition to Kiesha Alvaro and Aurora Ribero, Komang features a talented ensemble cast, including debutant Adzando Davema, as well as Cut Mini, Arie Kriting, Mathias Muchus, Ayu Laksmi, Neneng Risma, Rhesa Putri, Arman Dewarti, Ciaxman, Raim Laode, Anggika Bolsterli, Pevita Pearce, Afgansyah Reza, Naya Anindita, Shabira Alula, Azkya Mahira, Najla Putri, Sultan Hamonangan, Jonathan Alvaro, Oki DM, and many more.
