INDONESIA, August 21, 2025 – Viu, PCCW’s leading pan-regional OTT video streaming platform available across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, together with MAXStream Studios—the original content division of Telkomsel, Indonesia’s leading digital telecommunications provider—officially announced the premiere of Rintik Terakhir on August 20, 2025. This highly anticipated sequel to the hit drama Aku Tak Membenci Hujan marks the debut title under the new co-production label “Viu | MAXStream Originals.”
The partnership was first announced on June 24, 2025, during Telkomsel’s Welcome Reception at the Asia-Pacific Video & OTT Summit (APOS) 2025, where Viu and Telkomsel unveiled their joint plan to produce four Indonesian drama series under the “Viu | MAXStream Originals” label. Rintik Terakhir is the first release from this collaboration, premiering simultaneously on Viu—reaching audiences across 16 markets—as well as on MAXStream and IndiHome TV. This collaboration expands the reach of local stories while showcasing Indonesian creative talents on the global stage.“With Rintik Terakhir, we are not only continuing a story beloved by many viewers but also setting the tone for a strategic content slate that brings Indonesian narratives to a global audience,” said Avijit Dutta, Country Manager of Viu Indonesia. “Our collaboration with MAXStream blends deep local insight with a strong distribution network, ensuring relevance for audiences while delivering measurable business impact.”“Telkomsel, through MAXStream Studios, is proud to collaborate with Viu to present Rintik Terakhir, a story reflecting the resilience of love amidst personal turmoil. This partnership embodies our mission to deliver high-quality, relevant entertainment that resonates with today’s audiences,” said Lesley Simpson, Vice President of Digital Lifestyle at Telkomsel. “As part of Telkomsel’s commitment to enriching Indonesia’s digital lifestyle, we believe this series offers not only entertainment but also a deeply emotional experience for viewers—while paving new avenues for collaboration among Indonesian filmmakers and creatives to compete on a global level.”
A Story of Love, Trauma, and Identity
Rintik Terakhir continues the journey of Karang (Jeff Smith) and Launa (Aisyah Aqilla), while introducing new layers of emotional depth and psychological complexity. The drama follows a love story tested by trauma, fractured identities, and haunting pasts. When Karang wakes up as Arutala, a deaf teenager born from deep trauma, Launa struggles to reconnect with the man she once loved—only to be pulled into a world of secrets, guilt, and mysterious figures from the past.
The plot masterfully blends romance, trauma, and identity, appealing both to loyal fans of the original series and to new audiences seeking high-quality local storytelling.
A Flagship Collaboration to Accelerate Audience Growth
Spanning eight emotionally charged episodes, Rintik Terakhir offers both continuity and fresh perspective. Its dual-platform exclusivity on Viu and MAXStream is backed by integrated marketing and distribution through MyTelkomsel’s bundled subscription packages, enabling seamless cross-device access and maximizing viewer reach.
Strengthening Indonesia’s Role in Regional Content Exports
With Rintik Terakhir as the inaugural title under the “Viu | MAXStream Originals” banner, both companies aim to:

All “Viu | MAXStream Originals” dramas will premiere exclusively on Viu two weeks before becoming available on MAXStream and IndiHome TV, followed by simultaneous releases across all of Telkomsel’s convergence platforms and Viu’s regional markets in Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa.
