Jakarta, May 9, 2025 — Rekata Studio’s production, “Para Perasuk,” written and directed by Wregas Bhanuteja, has officially released its first look through Instagram account @rekatastudio, showcasing the main cast in a stunning, dramatic sequence. Angga Yunanda, Bryan Domani, and Chicco Kurniawan appear with their respective musical instruments—Angga with a traditional trumpet, Bryan on percussion, and Chicco calmly playing the guitar.
Meanwhile, other cast members are featured in eccentric and visually intense scenes: Maudy Ayunda appears in a trance-like state, seemingly unconscious; Anggun, microphone in hand, looks as if she’s casting a spell—yet still radiating her signature rockstar aura. Indra Birowo, eyes filled with sorrow, rides a gallon-laden motorbike, and Ganindra Bimo is portrayed as a powerful, commanding figure.
“The first look offers clues to the character transformations you’ll see in this film—transformations that audiences have never seen from these actors before,” said writer-director Wregas Bhanuteja. “We hope to present a work that feels fresh and helps push Indonesian cinema forward.”
“Para Perasuk,” which carries the international title “Levitating,” is set for release in theaters later this year. Produced by Siera Tamihardja, Iman Usman, and Amalia Rusdi, the film is a co-production between Indonesia, Singapore, and France.
Previously, “Para Perasuk” won post-production funding through the Spring 2025 Post-Production Grants from Purin Pictures (Thailand), a film fund organization that supports independent cinema in Southeast Asia. Last year, the project also received the CJ ENM Award at the Asian Project Market, a key event of the 2024 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
“We are grateful for the international reception and support, which gives us hope and motivation in bringing ‘Para Perasuk’ to life,” said producer Siera Tamihardja. “We hope that the film will resonate with audiences both in Indonesia and abroad when it premieres this year.”
“Para Perasuk” stars a lineup of talented Indonesian actors, including Angga Yunanda, Anggun, Maudy Ayunda, Bryan Domani, Chicco Kurniawan, Indra Birowo, and Ganindra Bimo. This supernatural drama is set in a village where spirit possession is celebrated as a communal thrill and pleasure. Bayu, who dreams of becoming a spirit medium, eventually becomes a central figure in facing a crisis that threatens the village’s unity.
