The much-anticipated film Detective Chinatown 1900 is scheduled to be released in Indonesian cinemas on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. This film features legendary Hong Kong action star Chow Yun Fat.
This drama and mystery genre film presents a murder investigation of a white woman, with a Chinese man as the main suspect. As the title suggests, Detective Chinatown 1900 is set in Chinatown, San Francisco, in the year 1900. Before its release in Indonesia, the film was first released on January 29, 2025, in several countries.
Detective Chinatown 1900 is the fourth film in the Detective Chinatown series, continuing the stories from Detective Chinatown (2015), Detective Chinatown 2 (2018), and Detective Chinatown 3 (2021). Produced by Wanda Film, this film is directed by Chen Sicheng, who also serves as the producer and screenwriter. Director Dai Mo also assisted in the making of this film.

Synopsis of Detective Chinatown 1900
Detective Chinatown 1900 follows the adventure of two detectives, Qin Fu (Liu Haoran) and Ah Gui (Wang Baoqiang), as they unravel the mystery of a murder. They team up to solve the case of a white woman’s murder, allegedly committed by a Chinese man in the Chinatown area of San Francisco.
The murder case shocks the local community, causing them to demand the closure of Chinatown due to fears of the negative impact the incident may cause. Qin Fu and Ah Gui must face obstacles from a fearful public while also relying on their intelligence and courage to crack the murder case.
With limited time, the two detectives strive to uncover the identity of the killer amid an increasingly complicated situation. This story offers suspense and the mystery of life in Chinatown during the 1900s.
In addition to Chow Yun Fat (Bai Xuanling), the film also stars John Cusack, a Hollywood actor known for his roles in films such as Cell (2016), Drive Hard (2014), and 2012 (2009).
