Jung Jin Young and Dahyun Excited to Promote the Film in Indonesia

Jung Jin Young shared, “Indonesia is a place I’ve always wanted to visit, even if just for a meet & greet with the fans. Honestly, I’m really excited but also a bit nervous imagining us coming here to promote the film that we worked on with joy and extra effort in the hot summer. Please give a lot of love and support for our film. Thank you!”

Dahyun, a member of TWICE, also expressed her excitement, “This is my first time visiting Indonesia as an actress. I’m really excited and looking forward to the meet & greet moment with the audience through this film. I hope we can create beautiful memories with all the fans, and I respectfully ask for your love and support for You Are The Apple of My Eye. Thank you!”

Korean Remake of an Iconic Love Story

The original You Are The Apple of My Eye (2011) is one of Taiwan’s most successful films of all time, grossing 100 million Taiwanese dollars faster than any other film in Taiwanese cinema history. It also became Taiwan’s highest-grossing film in China, and in Hong Kong, it broke the record for the highest number of Mandarin-speaking moviegoers, surpassing Kung Fu Hustle (Stephen Chow) after 7 years.

Remake director Song Dae Chan shared his gratitude, “It is an honor to meet Indonesian audiences through this warm story, especially during times when films are increasingly difficult to release in cinemas. I’m very grateful to be able to come to Indonesia for my first film. This is a movie made with talented actors and a passionate, enthusiastic crew, so I hope you enjoy it.”

This Korean version is the second remake, following the Japanese version released in 2018, and brings modern cinematography, new chemistry, and a soundtrack released earlier to build global anticipation, particularly among K-pop fans.

The Film is Expected to Be a Starting Point to Showcase the Strength of Asian Content

Producer Cho Young Myeong said, “With the challenges faced by the cinema market nowadays, I am very happy and honored that we can present this amazing Asian content to Indonesian audiences for the first time. I hope this film can be a starting point for showcasing the power of Asian content and the potential of the Asian cinema market.”

SYNOPSIS: Unforgettable First Love Memories

You Are The Apple of My Eye explores themes of first love, friendship, and self-discovery. Jin-woo (Jung Jin-young) is a rebellious teenager often causing trouble, while Sun-ah (Dahyun TWICE) is a disciplined model student.

One day, due to a small accident in class, Jin-woo ends up getting special supervision from Sun-ah, which leads to communication between the model student and the troublemaker.

However, things don’t go according to plan. Unlike Jin-woo, his friends are not shy about expressing their feelings toward Sun-ah and compete to win her attention.

Furthermore, even though Jin-woo has confessed his feelings sincerely, Sun-ah does not respond as he expected, until they meet again 15 years later. But, like many first love stories, their paths are not always aligned. Time, differences, and life choices lead them down separate paths.
