Two months ago, you might have been among the Sunjae Sunjae k-drama viewers because of the drama Lovely Runner that aired on Viu. Take it easy. This June, there are many new dramas and movies that Viu is ready to present to entertain and reduce your stress levels. Here are some titles and synopses:
High School Return of a Gangster
The drama begins when Kim Deuk-pal (played by Lee Seo-jin), a former thug, sees a student, Song Yi-heon (played by Joo Yoon-chan), who is about to jump off a bridge. He managed to save Song Yi-heon, but unfortunately, he was killed by a truck.
Miraculously, Kim Deuk-pal woke up, but his soul was in Song Yi-heon’s body. He then looked for a way to return to his body, but was unsuccessful. Instead, he was injured and unconscious for three days. He was forced to live life as a high school student. At that time, he realized that Song Yi-heon was a victim of bullying, so he wanted to end his life.
Kim Deuk-pal is then determined to avenge Song Yi-heon for Hong Jae-min (played by Joo Yoon Chan). He trained Yi-heon’s weak body until he finally won the duel. The problem is, will he stay in Song Yi-heon’s body forever?
Dreaming of a Freaking Fairy Tale
This is a satire of a Cinderella story and a romantic comedy K-drama presented in the style of a fairy tale. After the death of her father (Ryu Seung-soo), Shin Jae-rim (played by Pyo Ye-jin) doesn’t want to live with her mother and two stepsisters. Although not evil like Cinderella’s mother and stepsisters, Jae-rim doesn’t get along with them. She also tried to find a way to earn a lot of money. Especially since her father left her with a lot of debt.
But she realized that, with no work experience, coming from a poor family, and no connections, it would be difficult for her to get a well-paying job. She dreams of being Cinderella, married to a wealthy man.

The Player 2: Master of Swindlers
After its success in 2018, The Player made a sequel. This drama airs in place of the Lovely Runner slot starring Kim Hye-yoon and Byeon Woo-seok on TVN. In this second season, most of the players return to star in the action and crime series that tells the story of a group of con artists who unite to expose major crimes, especially those involving corruption and financial crimes.
Like Robin Hood, actors Song Seung-heon, Lee Si-eon, Oh Yeon-seo, and Jang Gyu-ri play con artists, hackers, fighters, and drivers who work together to take down rich people who earn money illegally. Like the first season, their tactics and strategies will be fun to watch. The script for The Player 2: Master of Swindlers was written by Park Sang-moon and Choi Seul-ki. Perfect Family
The drama Perfect Family is adapted from a webtoon of the same name, which will air on Viu starting June 22, 2024. This thriller and mystery drama tells the story of the family of lawyer Choi Jin-hyuk, his wife Han Eun-joo, and their adopted daughter Sun Hee (played by Park Ju-hyun). At first, they seem like a happy and perfect family. Until one day, Sun Hee was involved in a murder case that killed her friend.
Together with detective Lee Sung-woo, we will be invited to uncover the mystery in the murder case and the mystery behind this family in 12 episodes.
Joseon Chefs
Kim Yu (played by Yoon San-ha, a member of the boy group Astro), a nobleman in the Joseon era, has taken the exam to become a royal servant three times. Unfortunately, he always fails. In his heart, he is actually not very enthusiastic about becoming a royal servant. One day, he meets Gye Am (played by Kim Kang-min), who has cooking skills. Their friendship made Kim Yu fall in love with gastronomy and the culinary world.
This historical movie is inspired by the story of a nobleman Kim Yu, who actually lived during the Joseon Dynasty. Kim Yu is the author of Suunjapbang, a traditional recipe book that is one of Korea’s national treasures. In addition to various foods, Suunjapbang includes writings on more than a hundred types of alcohol.

A Man of Reason
Not only as an actor who works in front of the camera, but in Man of Reason, Jung Woo-sung also plays a role behind the camera. This is the movie where Jung Woo-sung debuted as a director.
The film, which hits theaters in December 2023, tells the story of Soo-hyuk (played by Jung Woo-sung), a gangster, who is finally free after 10 years in prison to replace his boss. Little does he know that while he was in prison, his partner gave birth to a daughter.
Realizing he has become a father, Soo-hyuk intends to leave the dark world. Unfortunately, his plan doesn’t go smoothly. The boss, who doubted Soo-hyuk’s loyalty, hired assassins to kidnap Soo-hyuk’s daughter as a hostage.
Not only that, Soo-hyuk is also the target of sniper Woo-jin (played by Kim Nam-gil) and explosives expert Jin-ah (Park Yoo-na). Soo-hyuk is forced to use violence again to save himself and his daughter.
