“Hi-Five” Reaches 1 Million Viewers in South Korea, Set to Premiere in Indonesia

The latest Korean film Hi-Five has achieved remarkable success in its first week of release. The movie surpassed 1 million viewers, becoming the fifth film in 2025 to reach this milestone.

According to the Korean Film Council, Hi-Five joins the ranks of Hitman 2, Dark Nuns, The Match, and YADANG: The Snitch, all of which also hit 1 million admissions this year.

Hi-Five premiered in South Korea on May 30, meaning it surpassed the 1 million mark just nine days after its theatrical release.

To celebrate the milestone, the cast — Lee Jae-in, Ahn Jae-hong, Ra Mi-ran, Kim Hee-won, Oh Jung-se, and GOT7’s Jinyoung — posed with director Kang Hyung-chul. Holding colorful balloons spelling out “1 Million,” they expressed gratitude to the audience.

Directed by Kang Hyung-chul (Swing Kids), Hi-Five tells the story of five ordinary individuals who unexpectedly become heroes after receiving superpowers.

The characters include:

  • Wan-seo (Lee Jae-in), a Taekwondo athlete

  • Ji-seong (Ahn Jae-hong), a writer

  • Sun-nyeo (Ra Mi-ran), a manager

  • Yak-seon (Kim Hee-won), a team leader

  • Ki-dong (Yoo Ah-in), an unemployed man

One day, all five undergo life-saving organ transplants — but along with their new organs, they gain mysterious superpowers and form a team, learning to connect their minds and work together.

They eventually face off against Young-chun (played by GOT7’s Jinyoung), the leader of the New God Church cult, who received a similar transplant and now hunts for other organs to amplify his powers.

Meet the Hi-Five Characters and Their Superpowers:

  1. Park Wan-seo (Lee Jae-in)

    • Received: Heart transplant

    • Powers: Super strength and speed. A natural fighter, she can leap great heights and defeat enemies with a single blow.

  2. Park Ji-seong (Ahn Jae-hong)

    • Received: Lung transplant

    • Powers: Can hold his breath for extended periods and unleash powerful gusts of wind — strong enough to blow away motorcycles and heavy objects.

  3. Kim Sun-nyeo (Ra Mi-ran)

    • Received: Kidney transplant

    • Powers: Can absorb and transfer energy or powers through touch. She can borrow her teammates’ abilities — strength, speed, or healing — at will.

  4. Huh Yak-seon (Kim Hee-won)

    • Received: Liver transplant

    • Powers: Rapid healing. He can heal serious injuries in others — as shown in one trailer scene where he helps a co-worker recover from a workplace accident.

  5. Hwang Ki-dong (Yoo Ah-in)

    • Received: Cornea transplant

    • Powers: Can see and manipulate electromagnetic waves, allowing him to control electronic devices like slot machines and other machines.

  6. Seo Young-chun (Park Jin-young / GOT7’s Jinyoung)

    • Received: Pancreas transplant

    • Powers: Absorbs life energy from others to stay young and prolong his life. He uses this power to hunt the Hi-Five team, aiming to steal their organs and become immortal.

Hi-Five is set to premiere in Indonesian theaters starting June 13, 2025.
