The latest Korean film Hi-Five has achieved remarkable success in its first week of release. The movie surpassed 1 million viewers, becoming the fifth film in 2025 to reach this milestone.
According to the Korean Film Council, Hi-Five joins the ranks of Hitman 2, Dark Nuns, The Match, and YADANG: The Snitch, all of which also hit 1 million admissions this year.
Hi-Five premiered in South Korea on May 30, meaning it surpassed the 1 million mark just nine days after its theatrical release.
To celebrate the milestone, the cast — Lee Jae-in, Ahn Jae-hong, Ra Mi-ran, Kim Hee-won, Oh Jung-se, and GOT7’s Jinyoung — posed with director Kang Hyung-chul. Holding colorful balloons spelling out “1 Million,” they expressed gratitude to the audience.
Directed by Kang Hyung-chul (Swing Kids), Hi-Five tells the story of five ordinary individuals who unexpectedly become heroes after receiving superpowers.
The characters include:
-
Wan-seo (Lee Jae-in), a Taekwondo athlete
-
Ji-seong (Ahn Jae-hong), a writer
-
Sun-nyeo (Ra Mi-ran), a manager
-
Yak-seon (Kim Hee-won), a team leader
-
Ki-dong (Yoo Ah-in), an unemployed man
One day, all five undergo life-saving organ transplants — but along with their new organs, they gain mysterious superpowers and form a team, learning to connect their minds and work together.
They eventually face off against Young-chun (played by GOT7’s Jinyoung), the leader of the New God Church cult, who received a similar transplant and now hunts for other organs to amplify his powers.
