Jakarta, July 4, 2025 — Following the heartfelt success of Aku Tak Membenci Hujan, which touched the hearts of millions, Viu, in collaboration with Telkomsel through MAXStream Studios, is set to deliver an even deeper and more emotional story with its sequel: Viu | MAXStream Original: Rintik Terakhir.
Premiering in late August 2025, the drama weaves a powerful narrative of love, trauma, and self-discovery. It is expected to be one of the most emotionally stirring shows of the second half of the year.
Still starring Jeff Smith and Aisyah Aqilah, Rintik Terakhir invites audiences to explore the psychological journey of Karang Samudra Daneswara, who now lives under a new identity as Arutala Sembagi Daneswara, a deaf teenager shaped by the traumatic shooting incident involving his own mother.
Spanning eight episodes, viewers will follow Launa (played by Aisyah Aqilah) as she attempts to reconnect with her lost love, only to be drawn into Arutala’s world—one filled with haunting childhood memories and unresolved resentment toward a mysterious figure from the past.
Adding a new emotional layer is Lingga, a calm and grounding presence who offers Launa a sense of solace. Caught between unfinished love and newfound hope, Launa faces a storm of choices: does letting go mean giving up, or could it be the first step toward a new beginning?
A Different Tone from Aku Tak Membenci Hujan
At a cast reveal event held in Jakarta last week (July 4, 2025), Jeff Smith shared insights on how this sequel differs from its predecessor.
“In the previous version, Karang’s character stood out. But in this sequel, I’m giving a stronger and deeper portrayal of Aru. He was only briefly shown before, but now we delve much further into his character,” Jeff explained.
This new installment also introduces two new characters: Utari and Lingga, played by Adzana Ashel JKT48 and Fadly Faisal, respectively.
“Utari is an antagonist. When I first learned about her character, I became even more curious as to why someone like Aru would fall for Utari, a cotton candy seller. She’s cunning and definitely a red flag,” Ashel revealed, teasing fans with her intriguing role.
Fadly Faisal, meanwhile, described how Lingga’s personality contrasts with his own.
“Lingga is someone who tries to win over Launa, who’s still struggling to move on. He’s calm and mature. I’m usually more energetic and clumsy, so lately I’ve been working on speaking more slowly and thinking more calmly to truly embody this role,” he shared.
With its compelling narrative touching on mental health, family trauma, and romance, Rintik Terakhir is a powerful reflection on how people may lose their way—yet still find their path home.
