MMAJ Jakarta 2026 Set to Debut as a Grand Celebration of Anime and Japanese Culture in Indonesia

Jakarta is preparing to welcome one of the most anticipated Japanese pop culture events of the year. Merah! Merah! Anime Japan!! (MMAJ) Jakarta 2026 will make its first-ever appearance in Indonesia on May 30–31, 2026, at Gandaria City, South Jakarta, bringing together anime enthusiasts, cultural communities, and creative industry players from both Indonesia and Japan.

Designed as an international-scale anime and Japanese culture festival, MMAJ Jakarta 2026 promises a vibrant experience that goes beyond entertainment. The two-day event will feature a diverse lineup of activities, including anisong concerts, anime film screenings, interactive workshops, and exclusive meet-and-greet sessions with Japanese talents and beloved characters.

The festival will welcome an impressive roster of performers and special guests, including Yoko Ishida, Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku, Daruma Rollin, BANBANBAN Sameshima, Hayataku, Shiena Nishizawa, and Otoha. Their presence is expected to attract fans from across the country, creating an exciting atmosphere for anime and Japanese music lovers alike.

Adding to the excitement, MMAJ Jakarta 2026 will showcase several well-known Japanese intellectual properties (IPs) that already enjoy strong fan bases in Indonesia. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with popular franchises such as Chibi Maruko-chan, Ultraman Omega, Ultraman Tiga, Rooster Fighter, and Gunpla, through a variety of immersive and interactive experiences.

One of the festival’s standout attractions is the Gundam Workshop, where attendees can learn the art of building Gunpla models alongside experienced community members. More than just a hobby activity, the workshop aims to provide an educational and hands-on experience that encourages creativity, craftsmanship, and community engagement among fans of Japanese pop culture.

Beyond entertainment, MMAJ Jakarta 2026 also serves as a platform to strengthen cultural ties and creative industry collaboration between Indonesia and Japan. The event highlights the growing influence of Japanese culture in Indonesia while fostering opportunities for cultural exchange and cross-border partnerships.

The festival is supported by several prominent institutions, including the Ministry of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia, the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), The Japan Foundation, and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

MMAJ Jakarta 2026 will take place on Saturday, May 30, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM WIB, and Sunday, May 31, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM WIB. Best of all, the festival is open to the public free of charge, making it an accessible celebration of anime, Japanese culture, and Indonesia–Japan friendship for visitors of all ages.

With its unique blend of entertainment, culture, and international collaboration, MMAJ Jakarta 2026 is poised to become a landmark event for anime fans and cultural enthusiasts across Indonesia.
