Baekhyun’s “Suka-suka” Performance: A Betcha Encore and Leading Lightstick Moment at Garden in the Air

Jakarta – South Korean idol Baekhyun of EXO was one of the performers at the Overpass Jakarta event, alongside B.I and Jey.

The concert, promoted by Three Mountains Eve, was held at the JCC Senayan on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Baekhyun was the last idol to perform at the event. The EXO main vocalist appeared dashing in a white shirt and black pants.

He also expressed how much he missed his fans, Eri (EXOL’s nickname), after their last meeting in June 2024 during the Lonsdaleite concert.

“I really missed you all. Did you miss me? Every time I come to Jakarta, I receive such amazing energy. It’s been a while since I last saw Eri, hello Eri,” Baekhyun greeted the crowd.

During the event, Baekhyun performed “Pineapple Slice” for the first time in Jakarta.

“So, the next songs are also being performed for the first time here in Jakarta. You must know what they are, right? Let’s start with ‘Good Morning,’” he added.

Not only did Baekhyun sing, but he also engaged in playful conversations with EXOL.

“Was anyone here at Lonsdaleite? During that concert, we had a corner where we spoke in Eri’s language, right? Today, I have something prepared for you,” he said, playfully teasing his fans.

“Jellyfish, catfish, you’re as sweet as soybeans. Is that right? A little strange? But isn’t it true? You’re sweet like… uh, not? Yeah, sweet like soybeans,” Baekhyun joked, earning laughter from the crowd.

Despite performing songs like “Pineapple Slice” and “UN Village” in a cool, charismatic style, Baekhyun’s adorable image remained intact. Fans couldn’t resist calling him “kiyowo” (cute).

“No, no, I’m not cute. I’ve already performed four songs, all cool ones. Don’t call me cute, call me cool!” Baekhyun responded, laughing.

He continued to entertain EXOL with his playful remarks.

“How about the people in the back? Can you see clearly? No? Maybe open your eyes wider? The people in the front can see me, right? The third row, can you see me clearly? If you raise your lightstick and it’s visible, that’s great. If not, raise it higher. Oh, but sorry, I can’t get higher, you know? So, the next time I come to Jakarta, I’ll ask for an extended stage,” he joked.

As Baekhyun performed “Candy” and “Betcha,” he encouraged EXOL and fans of B.I and Jey to stand up and dance along.

“Let’s burn our energy again! Even if you don’t know how to dance, just move around! You know, when you’re in the shower, you dance by yourself, right? So just do that! I’ll be watching and checking out your moves,” he said, laughing.

Before starting “Garden in the Air,” Baekhyun asked the fans to wave their lightsticks, a signature concert moment for EXO’s fans.

However, a funny incident occurred when Baekhyun borrowed one of the Eribongs (EXOL lightsticks).

Not wanting to make Eri jealous, Baekhyun decided to return the lightstick.

“I was actually going to leave, but no, you guys really wanted me to use it. Okay, one song, then. Don’t be jealous, alright? But the next song, let’s all enjoy together. Wow, this lightstick is so pretty, though. Are you jealous? Do you want me to give it back? If you want me to, raise your hands. Okay, I’ll return it, then. But I’ll use my hands instead, is that okay?” he teased, making the crowd laugh.

As the event was nearing its end, Baekhyun didn’t want fans to leave disappointed, especially after his performance of “Betcha,” so he offered an encore of the song.

“I thought I should show it to you again. Oh, the dancers have changed clothes! That’s okay, though! This is what makes the encore so exciting. So, let’s do ‘Betcha’ one more time. Please make sure this mic works and that my voice can reach the audience,” he requested.

Baekhyun performed “Betcha” again with the dancers now in different outfits.

“See you again soon, love you, baby. We’ll meet again in the fall. Annyeong!” he concluded, blowing a flying kiss to the audience.

Before Baekhyun’s set, both B.I and Jey also impressed the crowd during their performances at Overpass Jakarta.

Jey was the main performer, getting the fans to sing along with him, while B.I energized the crowd, encouraging everyone to stand up and dance with him from “Tasty” to the end of the show.

That wraps up Baekhyun’s fun and energetic performance at the Overpass Jakarta! What did you think of his interactions with fans? Pretty playful, right?
