Jakarta – Brian McKnight opened his concert titled An Evening with Brian McKnight at Balai Sarbini, Jakarta, on Friday night with the song “Superhero.” The opening felt intimate and heartfelt as the R&B singer from the United States performed the song solo while playing the guitar on stage.
Dressed in a light blue suit, Brian was immediately greeted with loud cheers and applause from the audience. The simple yet emotional opening set the tone for a warm atmosphere that carried throughout the evening.
Brian then greeted the Jakarta crowd and expressed his appreciation for their presence. He acknowledged that the audience had many entertainment options for a Friday night, yet chose to spend the evening with him.
“I’m happy to be here with you tonight. You have many entertainment options, but you chose to spend your Friday night with me,” Brian said from the stage, drawing applause from the crowd.
He went on to introduce himself and reflect on his 34-year music career. According to Brian, the love songs he has written and performed over the decades have become the bridge connecting him with his listeners.
“For 34 years, I’ve been entertaining you with love songs. That’s why we’re able to connect tonight,” he said.
Brian also shared his joy at returning to Jakarta, saying this visit felt special as he was able to reunite with his Indonesian fans and feel their warm energy once again.
Throughout the concert, Brian frequently interacted with the audience, inviting them to sing along and creating an atmosphere that felt close and personal.

“Everything”: A Personal Moment for Brian McKnight on the Jakarta Stage
One of the most emotional moments of the night came when Brian McKnight performed the song “Everything.” Before singing it, he paused to share a personal story about how his perspective on love and life has changed over the years.
Brian admitted that earlier in his career, he didn’t truly believe in the idea of love as often portrayed in movies and songs. At that time, he wrote love songs based on what people wanted to hear.
“I didn’t really believe in love the way it’s often portrayed in movies or songs,” Brian told the audience.
That perspective, he said, changed more than a decade ago after he met his wife, Leilani McKnight—a meeting he described as a major turning point in his life.
“She changed the way I think, walk, talk, write, sing, and live my life,” Brian said emotionally.
He then dedicated the song “Everything” to his wife.
“Mrs. Leilani McKnight, you are everything,” Brian said before continuing his performance.
Throughout the night, Brian delivered a setlist filled with fan favorites, including “Anytime,” “The Only One for Me,” “Forever,” “Still in Love,” “Find Myself in You,” “Ten Million Stars,” “My Legacy,” “6, 8, 12,” and “Never Felt This Way.”
As the concert neared its end, emotions peaked when Brian performed “Could,” “Back at One,” “One Last Cry,” and “Home,” with the audience singing along and creating a warm sense of togetherness through the final songs.
Some attendees said the concert felt too short despite their satisfaction. Fania, one of the concertgoers, shared that it was her first time attending a Brian McKnight concert and that she had long looked forward to hearing “One Last Cry” live.
Another audience member, Dina, also attended her first Brian McKnight concert. She said “Home” was the performance she anticipated the most, although she felt the concert passed quickly as several songs were performed in medley format.
Brian McKnight previously performed in Indonesia in 2025 through the Heart & Soul Live in Jakarta 2025 concert. This latest appearance once again brought his timeless songs together with listeners across generations, proving that Brian McKnight’s music continues to resonate and remain deeply loved.
