Jakarta – K-Drama fans in Jakarta were thrilled when Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung visited the city to celebrate the global launch of their latest Netflix drama, Can This Love Be Translated?, on Friday, January 16, 2026. Their visit to Kota Kasablanka Mall wasn’t just a casual appearance—they also held a fan meeting attended by thousands of excited fans.

This romantic comedy marks the first pairing of Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung. Kim stars as Ju Ho-jin, a multilingual interpreter who can speak six languages, including English, Italian, and Japanese. Go Youn-jung plays Cha Mu-hee, a sudden global star. The drama explores an intriguing question: can we truly understand another person, especially when it comes to love?
Go Youn-jung shared that she was drawn to the project because the story felt like a modern fairy tale.
“It’s both realistic and unreal. When I first read the script, I felt like I was stepping into a storybook. How could an interpreter and a global star come together? That’s what excited me,” she said during the fan meeting in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, Kim Seon-ho revealed the challenges of portraying a multilingual interpreter. He trained for four months with different language instructors to ensure that his pronunciation and intonation felt natural.
“All languages are difficult, but Japanese and Italian were especially challenging due to the volume of dialogue and intricate details,” Kim said with his signature smile.

Despite the language challenges, the pair delivered charming chemistry on screen. Ju Ho-jin, despite his expertise in languages, struggles to interpret emotional and romantic cues. Meanwhile, Cha Mu-hee, though popular, experiences anxiety and doubts about her rapid rise to fame. These contrasting personalities create humorous misunderstandings that gradually develop into a heartfelt emotional connection over the drama’s 12 episodes.
The drama’s settings span not only Korea but also Japan (Enoshima), Canada, and Italy. Each location adds its own charm: warmth in Japan, the breathtaking aurora in Canada, and romantic allure in Italy. The series also features special cameos throughout, adding extra excitement for viewers.
During the press conference in Jakarta, Go Youn-jung expressed her gratitude for the enthusiastic Indonesian fans. “The energy from the fans here is amazing. Thank you, Indonesia,” she said. She also explained that Cha Mu-hee is a complex character—while thrilled to be a top star, she also feels lonely and fearful of being hurt.
Director Yoo Young-eun, known for Bloody Heart (2022), highlighted the unique chemistry between the two leads. Ju Ho-jin is logical and calm, while Cha Mu-hee is emotional and often unpredictable. Misunderstandings, cross-cultural interactions, and language differences are central themes, but ultimately the characters learn to “translate the language of love” for one another.
Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung also shared personal insights. Kim hopes to master English to connect better with global fans, while Go Youn-jung jokingly said she wants to become fluent in Indonesian. These light-hearted moments strengthened their bond with fans in Jakarta.
