Indonesian fans of Korean films will have to wait a bit longer to watch Forbidden Fairytale. According to an announcement by CGV Indonesia, the film will be released in Indonesia on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, three weeks after its release in South Korea.

Synopsis of Forbidden Fairytale

Dan Bi (Park Ji Hyun) is a rookie employee at the juvenile protection team, where she monitors illegal adult content every day. However, at night, Dan Bi follows her dream of becoming a children’s story writer by entering various competitions.
Dan Bi’s life changes after she accidentally damages a classic car owned by Hwang Chang Seop (Sung Dong Il), the CEO of a company publishing adult novels. To cover the repair costs of 100 million won, Dan Bi is forced to work as a writer for the company, creating adult fiction novels. She signs a contract to write 20 episodes.

Used to writing fairytales, Dan Bi struggles with adult material. With the help of Jung Seok (Choi Siwon), she begins writing bold and intense stories. Her unique writing style soon makes her a phenomenon in the adult literature world. Her stories lead to significant changes in Jung Seok’s life, who has suffered from sexual dysfunction for years.

Forbidden Fairytale is Park Ji Hyun’s first comedy film. She portrays Dan Bi, a civil servant with dreams of becoming a fairytale writer. However, due to a simple misunderstanding, she is assigned to the Department of Vulgar Content Regulation.

“I play Dan Bi, a daring adult web novel writer and an innocent fairytale writer. I took on this role hoping to showcase a comedic side of myself that I haven’t shown before,” said Park Ji Hyun.

Choi Siwon plays a senior official responsible for regulating adult content. After six years, Jung Seok is tired of his job and is preparing to resign. However, at the same time, Dan Bi joins his team. Promised a transfer to his dream department if he can endure for three more months, Jung Seok puts all his effort into mentoring Dan Bi.

“From Jung Seok’s perspective, Dan Bi is the newcomer he has been waiting for. When Jung Seok explains the rules to ensure his junior knows how to handle situations, I focused on making sure his direction felt fast and dynamic,” said Siwon.

Veteran actor Sung Dong Il plays the CEO of the novel publishing company, Hwang Chang Seop. “He may seem like someone who doesn’t think much, but in reality, he is quite mature,” said Sung Dong Il.

According to Siwon, Forbidden Fairytale is a film that can be enjoyed by audiences without any heavy thinking. “Although the premise might seem provocative, the story is carefully balanced to make sure it’s fun and easy for everyone to understand,” he said.
