Korea-Indonesia Collaboration at K-EXPO Indonesia 2024: Save the Date!

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Korea has partnered with KOCCA to organize the Korea-Indonesia collaboration event, K-EXPO Indonesia 2024, which will be held in Jakarta from October 14 to 17, 2024. This event is jointly organized by five South Korean ministries: the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries; the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries; the Ministry of Trade; and the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises.

In addition, seven organizations are participating to help bring excitement to the event, including the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Design Promotion Institute (KIDP), Korea Small and Medium Business Distribution Agency (KOSME), and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

The main objective of this event is to expand the export of K-Content and related industries from Korea into Southeast Asia.

Previously, K-EXPO was successfully held in Paris, France, in October.

According to KOCCA, this event represents a major opportunity to share the experience of Hallyu content and expand exports in Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia. “In the future, we will continue to collaborate with relevant ministries and explore various creative approaches to showcase even more innovative K-Content,” KOCCA stated in a press release received by tvOnenews.com on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

Business Meetings (October 14-15)

During the first two days (October 14-15), business meetings will be held at the Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel, aimed at developing new markets through collaboration between the content industry and related sectors. A total of 40 content companies and 86 companies from related industries will participate, with over 200 buyers from Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Australia showing strong interest in K-Content and related Hallyu products.

Experience Zones (October 16-17)

On October 16-17, at the Jakarta Convention Center, the event will offer various experience zones for visitors, including genre-based zones, collaboration zones, and special zones, providing a fresh and exciting experience. Over 30,000 visitors are expected over the two days.

In the “K-Content Multiplex” zone, a variety of genres such as animation, characters, webtoons, games, broadcasting, music, and new technology content will be showcased, highlighting the growing interest and enthusiasm for K-Content in Indonesia. Additionally, the event will increase awareness of Korean content brands through interactive programs like quizzes on Korean content.

“K-Content X Related Industries” Zone

For the first time, the “K-Content X Related Industries” zone, which was introduced last year in Thailand, will expand from seven zones to 14 zones in Indonesia. In this zone, visitors can explore the potential for expanding and developing new markets between content and related industries, with the chance to vote for the most popular products on-site.

A special zone, presented by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), will introduce new concepts such as Korean-style convenience stores and areas along the Han River, offering a fusion of content, food, beverages, and consumer products (like instant noodle machines) in a cross-sector industrial experiment.

Entertainment and Concerts

At K-Stage, various entertainment events will take place, including fan sign sessions with popular Indonesian webtoon author “Killer Badro”, fan meetings with K-pop stars Ailee and Nomad, and performances by the group Beatpelahouse, bringing joy to Indonesian fans.

On the evening of October 16, the concert, featuring performances from SF9, Ailee, Nomad, and Beatpelahouse, was a huge success. The concert, which blended a variety of genres including K-pop idol groups, OSTs, beatboxing, and a cappella, attracted over 4,200 attendees, making for an unforgettable night in Indonesia.

K-EXPO Indonesia 2024 promises to be an exciting event for fans of Korean culture and Hallyu, providing a unique opportunity to engage with the best of Korean content and industries. Make sure not to miss this vibrant celebration!
