The film Laura, inspired by the struggle of Laura Anna, had its gala premiere at Epicentrum XXI Jakarta on Monday, September 9, 2024. Hundreds of attendees, including media personnel, Laura Anna’s relatives, and her fans, filled the venue from 3:00 PM WIB.
During the event, Laura was screened twice, in the afternoon and evening. The cast watched the second screening with fans, many of whom brought white roses.
The entire cast appeared on the red carpet around 6:30 PM WIB, including the lead actress Amanda Rawles as Laura; Kevin Ardilova as Laura’s boyfriend, Jojo; Carissa Perusset as Laura’s sister, Iren; and Unique Priscilla as Laura’s mother, Mama Amel. They all wore white outfits to honor Laura Anna, including supporting actors such as Fadi Alaydrus, Fachrul Hadid, and Rafly Altama Putra, who played Laura’s friends.
Director Hanung Bramantyo arrived earlier with producer Manoj Punjabi from MD Pictures. They were joined by Laura Anna’s family—Mama Amel, Greta Iren, Janos, and Petra—to greet the audience.
Hanung explained that Laura Anna’s story of seeking justice deserved to be brought to the big screen. “Laura’s story is tragic; despite the accident that left her paralyzed, she still managed to smile and stay motivated in life,” he told reporters.
He also explained why only Laura and her family used their real names in the film. “Film is subjective, not objective. The objectivity is for the viewers to judge,” he said. “I avoid issues with the ITE Law, which could potentially entrap us all. Because this film is subjective and represents my point of view on Laura, that’s why the film is titled Laura.”
Additionally, the appearance of the cast and guests drew attention, and here are their looks at the Laura gala premiere.
The film Laura, which carries the theme “A Story of A True Fighter,” will be released simultaneously in theaters across Indonesia on September 12, 2024, about a week before Laura Anna’s birthday on September 20.
