After the success of their religious-themed horror films like The Witch (2018), Hereditary (2018), and Midsommar (2019), A24 is back with a new terrifying release titled Heretic (2024).
This film takes us into a story that challenges the boundaries of faith and reality. From its first trailer, which was released two months ago, we are immediately struck by intense and chilling scenes.
Heretic follows the story of two Christian missionaries, or sisters, who are out doing door-to-door evangelism. However, their noble mission takes a dark turn when they stumble upon a remote house belonging to Mr. Reed (played by Hugh Grant).
At first, the conversation revolves around religion, and the atmosphere is warm. But things take a sinister turn when Reed goes into the kitchen to fetch a blueberry pie. Unfortunately, the pie never arrives, and the two women find themselves trapped in the house. The tension heightens as they realize that they are now part of a deadly game orchestrated by Reed.
They must choose doors based on their beliefs, which traps them further in a labyrinth created by Reed himself.
Hugh Grant, known for his roles in romantic films, makes a notable appearance in Heretic, marking his debut in an A24 production. His portrayal as the main antagonist adds an intriguing layer to the film. In fact, his role reminds us of Patrick Stewart’s character in Green Room (2015), a similarly menacing and chilling performance.
Aside from Hugh Grant, other notable actors and actresses also contribute to the film. Here’s the cast lineup:

Heretic is scheduled for release at the end of 2024. In the United States, the film will be released on November 15, 2024. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, it will be available on November 20, 2024. Don’t miss it!
