Jakarta, July 21, 2025 — The film Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan has successfully attracted 1,393,072 viewers as of Sunday, July 20, 2025, on its 11th day of screening. Since its release on July 10, 2025, the film reached the milestone of 1 million viewers on July 19, just 10 days after its premiere. This achievement also cements it as the 10th Indonesian film this year to surpass the 1 million viewer mark.
Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan is the second romantic drama this year to reach over one million viewers — a milestone worth celebrating, especially given that this genre has seen declining popularity among Indonesian audiences in recent years.
The success of Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan continues the streak of director Yandy Laurens, alongside producer Suryana Paramita and Cerita Films, who earlier this year released 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan in collaboration with Mandela Pictures. That film, released earlier in the year, attracted 1,237,043 viewers during its theatrical run. Now, Yandy, Mita, and Cerita Films continue their successful 2025 journey with Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan, which has surpassed the audience count of 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan.
Despite competing with major Hollywood releases, Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan has proven to be a high-quality film. Opening with fewer than 300 screens, the film has steadily gained more screens thanks to growing support from Indonesian audiences.
“This achievement is thanks to the support of all Indonesian viewers who have believed in Cerita Films’ first independent production. It feels as though this film has been carried by millions of Indonesian viewers, allowing it to continue running and gaining momentum,” said producer Suryana Paramita.
“This has been a surreal experience — a joy that is hard to fully grasp because of the overwhelming and sincere response from the audience. We’re thrilled that this film belongs to everyone, and we are deeply touched,” said director Yandy Laurens.
Co-producer of Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan from Croatia, Spomenka Saraga, expressed gratitude for the film’s success reaching over one million viewers. The filming process in Croatia, in the cities of Grožnjan and Zagreb, provided great inspiration for her and the entire cast and crew.
“We have never worked in such a peaceful environment, without shouting, filled with laughter throughout the day, and not a single crew member questioned the working hours because working with them was such a joy. All the cast and I are proud as Croatian producers of our amazing team, including Zdenka Gold, Bobby Grubic, Kristina Nefat, Zoran Živković, Jadranko Bagaric, our outstanding and patient drivers, and our incredible actors Goran Bogdan, Lara Nekić, Livio Badurina, Borko Peric, Vanda Winter, Sandra Lončarić, Slavica Knežević, Tea Harčević, Igor Galo. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone,” said producer Spomenka Saraga.
Beyond its box office success, Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan also achieved popularity through its soundtrack, with the song Terbuang dalam Waktu by Barasuara reaching the #1 spot on Spotify Indonesia’s Viral 50 chart.
As a token of appreciation to all viewers, Cerita Films, along with Sheila Dara, Barasuara, and Maya Hasan, held a special performance at the Main Atrium Street Gallery in Pondok Indah Mall (PIM), South Jakarta, on Sunday, July 20, 2025. They performed two soundtrack songs from Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan — Terbuang dalam Waktu and Pancarona. The spontaneous concert was warmly welcomed by enthusiastic mall visitors, filling the Main Atrium Street Gallery area and visible from several upper floors.
The film Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan is produced by Cerita Films and supported by Melyana Tjahyadikarta, Queen Yeap, Slingshot Pictures, Imajinari, Miles Films, Studio Artemis, Jagartha, Trinity Entertainment Network, and Dwidaya Amadeo Gemintang as executive producers and collaborators.
